Targeting Specific Countries

I bought a domain that is a Spanishkeyword.net. It gets about 4000 searches a month worldwide, but only around 100 in each individual country. I want to target all of the countries obviously but is this possible? I don't understand why I hear IMs talking about targeting specific countries. Affiliate products are shipped around the world, right? Ebooks can be bought anywhere... If someone could clear this up for me that would be awesome.

Also..
Do I need to host this site with a specific Latin-American domain hosting company?

    you can check global searches and local searches it would give you an estimation as well.

    Yeah the global searches is around 4000 and the local searches for any Latin American country is around 100.

    If anybody knows, what I'm asking is this: Do you have to target individual countries or can you target groups of countries(ie. Latin America)? What is the significance of national borders in IM?

    I've never build a website in Spanish. But if I go through and do all the SEO on it, is it feasible to be on page 1 for people searching in Mexico, Honduras, and Ecuador(Multiple countries)?

    Please take into account that Mexico is a 115 million people country while Ecuador is 15 million and Honduras is only 8 million. So Why would you bother. Go for Mexico and if you get any traffic from other countries,it will be a bonus. Please bear in mind that even when the language is spanish in any of these countries it may be quite different from onw country to another.

    There are many products and services that are country specific.

    For example, if you promote Amazon products via an Amazon US affiliate, then you want to target people in the US. While you will still get non-US traffic, a lot of this can be wasted as Amazon US doesn't ship many products outside the US (using the Amazon example, you are best to use a redirection to point to the appropriate Amazon country site).

    While a lot of ebooks are non-country specific, there's still plenty of them that contain information that is only relevant to a particular country, eg: tax law, business set ups.

    Well that definitely clears up the affiliate product question and that was what I suspected, Peter. Thanks for your response. Digging through more Spanish keywords, I am finding what looks like ridiculously weak competition for money phrases. It just looks so ridiculously easy. Now I'm wondering this:
    Are the Google Top 10 I see for a Spanish keyword phrase(here in Michigan) the same top 10 someone sees in Mexico?

    Are the PageRanks of the top 10 sites(and other SEOQuake data) I see the same PageRanks someone would see in Mexico?

    I just bought a domain but do you guys think its necessary to register domains with a Mexican-specific company? What about hosting? I have heard some marketers suggest this but I'm still not sure what the purpose is.

    Can anyone suggest a place to learn about targeting foreign countries? Nobody seems to know anything about it and I have a LOT of questions.

    I have several websites in Spanish hosted in an American company and they are all ranking high no matter what the country is. It may vary a little bit throughout the countries but not much. Once you are up there it may vary one or two max. In conclusion, do not worry about the hosting, url, or else. Just do the basic SEO with your keywords in Spanish and you will rank high in all countries no matter where the user is searching from. I do not know a website that talks about targeting other countries but I can tell from experience. Hope it helps!
