How to Promote and Get Traffic to Arcade Flash Game Site?

Recently started a new site ArcadeCellar and I'm looking for ways to promote and bring traffic to my site. The entire purpose of my site and the main way to monetize is through traffic.

I get around 3,000 visits a month, would like to hit 5,000-10,000 so I could actually start seeing income.

Free methods for traffic would be ideal. The main point is bringing consistent traffic to site, revisiting users, maybe even register for an account to start posting comments, ratings, etc.

Also will be taking constructive criticism, suggestions, etc for the site. The featured slider will have 5-6 more of my most popular games, so it's only temporary now.

Try putting a facebook comments box on your pages and if its a wordpress site try putting a plugin that locks out content unless someone "Likes" "G+" or "tweets" your game. A few simple things can take you a long way

Throw SEO out the window, because you won't see traffic for months/years unless you are in a super specific niche like purple trucking games made with Flash v5, and even that would probably be super competitive.

If I were you, I would go entirely on social media. Pay a few bucks a day for impression ads (they might work; if not, you just wasted a few bucks) and also connect with your audience. I am assuming you are targeting teens and young adults, so connect with them on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ (are there any teens on Google+? I haven't joined, so I don't know).

You can also try making a review site for the games on your site, or better yet, make a video review on Youtube.

Facebook Comments WordPress Plugin by Pleer

Trying to use that now, but having some issues. Will put back once I get it to work.

The "Likes", "Tweet" to unlock seems like a good idea. Any idea how I could do this?

So it looks like social media is the best way to go. Are there any good ways to mastering social marketing? Or just post and keep connecting with your audience?

Feel good about throwing out old clothes because you know there’ll be a new one waiting for you at the door.

I am actually putting together a WSO on that right now. As a matter of fact it sound like it will be just what the doctor ordered for your site.

Why don't you go ahead an PM me, I think I could really help you.

        Thanks

Whenever you have a new game on your website, make a post about it. Or, if you review a game, post about it. Make it so people cannot avoid you when they think about whatever genre of Flash games you are going after.
Alright, looks like I'll start learning more on social media and staying using it.

PM'ed you. Though I am keeping my expenses at a minimum-zero. Also, I thought about the "Like", "Tweet" before you can access content and find that it probably won't work as well.

However, it has reminded me to make the "Like" my page before you can access it. But, I can't seem to find an incentive for people to like the page. For example, other sites might give you coupons, offers, or other incentives; with an arcade site you are offering free games and that's all I'm doing now. Any thoughts?

I'm trying to come up with something original if it comes up on the side. But for now, will be sticking to his and getting traffic to my site.

Try to advertise in related flash gaming sites like y8. Facebook is also another option, I have seen a few game advertisements there. Try to attract your more of your target market to maximize your expenses.

Basic other point were already given above.

    Good luck!

Your options for generating traffic will likely depend largely on the types of monetization you are using. If you are selling a membership subscription or something, you might be able to bring in some traffic through an affiliate or revenue sharing program. I would reach out to niche bloggers and give them some kind of incentive to help you promote it. That's part of social media, but you need to stay engaged like KimboJim was saying. An awesome app could go viral, depending on what you are offering. If you are doing something highly original, this could probably take off on its own. However, if you are doing the same old same old then getting traffic will be the least of your problems. So focus on being unique from the very start.

Might go into that later, but that is quite a lot of work; first learning and then creating the game itself.

Hey VOnline - dunno about your coding skills but:

best way is to insert a feature where your visitors can post there highscore to facebook or twitter in order to make your website viral. Other ways of getting traffic is stumpleupon it works great with flashgames. Download hypercam and make some videos of you playing the flashgames and upload the videos on youtube with a link to your site on the description (beware you gonna need a good amount of videos in order to get good traffic) but its all about upscale

The things that you are doing to get traffic to your site now, why can't you continue to do those things more and more and more? Did you find the niche before you created the site, or did you create the site out of passion... and no niche homework?

Hardly have any coding skill :p

I think that posting these highscores to Facebook or Twitter will have to be embedded in the games themselves.

      Any ideas?

Will start posting some videos on YouTube soon!

Well right now I'm just using Facebook (which is mostly friends) and Twitter. They aren't bringing in huge amounts of traffic, so may I could get some tips there too?

I was always a fan of flash games, so having a friend know this he told me about this site that he made and I just took it over and got it from him.

I guess one must use a combination of all the promotion methods: blogs, link exchanges, stumbleupon, forums, custom games for the site.

Here's the post on my site: Play Learn to Fly 2 Full Medal Guide Walkthrough Game (video is above).

The Facebook comments box has finally been put in. However, it's not showing for the games pages; currently looking into that now.

Yep, those were parts that weren't necessary to the guide itself and was to save time. Hence there is a fast forward button on the bottom left that comes up every time I speed it up. Thanks!

      • In addition to video marketing, press releases, and social media, you can drive traffic to your website by offering prizes and giveaways to your subscribers. You can also run contests on social media sites and promote your website on forums. Add your site to niche directories and post classified ads.

Have a memeber signup and if they signup they will get an email which will
link them to your site. You can buy traffic from funklicks for like a penny a
click. If you set your ads up right you can recoup most of the advertising
      money.
I used to have an adult site and we ran arrowtrader which monitered all
your trades. You coud set up a percentage going to your trading partners.
You just have like a 25% of them going to your trade partner. So, they
come to your site, look around and then they click to your partner. That
might be a way to turn a profit on traffic you buy.
I heard that if you personally get like a 100 or 200 games you like and write original descriptions for them and have seo freindly links you may
see traffic that way. Dont just focus on your main site. Each one of your
gamepages wiith original content and maybe even comments can be a page that can be searched. Try to optimize each page for that games
      keywords.
Liscence a game. Dont just get a 2 star or 3 star game. Very few people
will see it. Get a 4 star game. Maybe you can get 1 for a thousand dollars
that you can distribute with your link in it. A 4 star game could bring in
maybe 300 - 400 people a day. It will pay for itself over time. Keep investing in them and your traffic will grow.
