Its possible if the company offers backup that you can have access to anytime.

You might want to check this with your auto responder company.

If you decide to choose another autoresponder and import your list there, people on your list will need to confirm again.

Given the fact that a list is an important asset for your business, you might want to have a proper and safe autoresponder.

    Cheers

Your new autoresponder will send a new confirmation link to your list. If they confirm then they will be added else you'll surely lost some of them.

I'm not really sure you HAVE to send your list another confirmation if you do export them to another autoresponder. How about this:
Once you decide to transfer your list to another autoresponder, (preferrably aweber) import them in one specific list where the confirmation opt-in option is not enabled. They shouldn't really confirm a second time because they don't have to know you've transferred and it wouldn't make a difference to them, if you understand where I'm getting at.
Although do make sure that any new subscriber you get AFTER changing autoresponders are subscribed to another separate, yet similar list (same follow up messages and all) except that this list SHOULD have confirmation opt-ins enabled, because they weren't in your list before you transferred.

The only con I find with the method I just laid out here is that it *may* cause these messages to be labelled as spam to people who do not confirm after transferring.
If you find that this may be possibly an issue, then dismiss everything I just said and do what everyone else is telling you to do.
