This is 2012... and warriors send marketing emails with no unsubscribe link?

Funny enough the only people (who aren't straight spammers) who send marketing emails with no unsubscribe links to me are warriors.

In fact some of them have been in business for a long time... many years.

Just because you boot strapped your business together in the warrior forum does not mean you should not conform to current standards and regulations for email marketing.

So if you are a newbie... or if you are some warrior forum marketer who does not get out much... and you think its ok to boot strap your business together...

It is.

Just don't forget the unsubscribe link in your emails... and if you can't handle that on your own then spend the $20 a month to get a decent email service to do it for you.

Money making tip:

Include unsubscribe link = legit

I've got a bunch of emails that don't honour my unsubscribe requests. The best way to handle such is to continue pressing the spam button. In time, their delivery rates with the major email hosts will go down.

    Now who's the loser here.

This is one of the reasons that I create a unique e-mail
forwarding address for each new subscription that I'm
      keen to receive.

If they start messing around having no unsubscribe links,
ignoring unsubscribe requests or selling my e-mail, then I
simply delete that e-mail forwarding address in cpanel.

I do have a GMail account that I use for more general
subscriptions and I get a lot of bad examples of e-mail
      marketing in there.

For my own lists, the HTML template I use includes an
unsubscribe link at the top of the message and at the
      bottom too.

If someone doesn't want to be on my list, then I figure
that you make it as easy as possible for them to leave.

      Dedicated to mutual success,

      Shaun

My thoughts exactly. It really is depressing how many people refuse to do this.

If you send quality targeted emails, with unsubscribe links, you will get much better inboxing rates anyway, as your emails are not marked as spam.

Funny enough the latest one I received, due to an unrelated warrior purchase I made in 2008, not only did not have an unsubscribe link... it said "do not reply it won't be read."

So I set up a filter... and now they will not be read :-)

It's been going on for ages, and I don't expect that it will get better any time soon unfortunately.

Newbies (and people who simply don't care) will always be a part of this market. The best we can hope to do is educate the former, and ignore the latter (to the greatest extent possible).

Oh.. how I "love" this stuff! "do not reply it won't be read."

I'm OK to receive an email with sales pitch - yet I'm not allowed to reply! Great

That's true. I also receive emails from spammers with no unsubscribe link. Some of them come from Warriors and some from other sources. I'll be honest and tell you that before I click on a link in an email (even if I opted in their list), I always look down at the bottom of the email to see if there is an unsubscribe link. I f there isn't any, I just delete the email. I think that serious marketers (read legit) always include an unsubscribe link.

I agree with you on this. It shows that you have integrity in the way you do business. No one likes a spammer. It's disappointing that Warrior Forums members are doing this though.

Yeah that is ridiculous when I still see these type of emails with no unsubscribe link. I wonder how many laws they are breaking ( These fly by night shady operations )

Probably from some 3rd world country. Lesson: Do not run a business like this if someone wants to unsubscribe for whatever reason let them it is called freedom of choice.

Sometimes I am surprised when its the reputable ones... or ones partnered with reputable ones that do not understand the most basic need for an unsubscribe link... or at least a function that allows me to modify the email address to my subscription email instead of the personal contact email they are almost innocently spamming.

A former member who I tried to help out some time ago (now banned) has a fake email account of mine. I didn't subscribe to anything, I just gave him this particular email address to review one of his products.

He sends really high class sales letters which consist of just a link. Nothing else. Really makes me want to click it and impulse buy every time.

Naturally, there is no unsubscribe link.

I got one today that was a little different. It had the List-Unsubscribe header, but no link or other mechanism in the message body. Since there are a lot of people whose mail readers don't support that header, he's not in compliance with any sort of policy or regulation that might apply.

This wasn't a one-time mistake, either. Dumb move from a smart person.

Yes, that's one thing that marketeers shouldn't miss out. They know when they are bashing people with offers every min. 24/7 people are going to unsubscribe. They're smart aren't they? hahah.

Let's just do clean business shall we, when people loves you they won't unsubscribe even you just send then a blank message with only a "unsubscribe link"

    Cheers,

I know a warrior who's been here for a long time and who's list I got on at one point.

I know he uses his own self hosted auto-responder, as I've seen him say as such. He does have an unsubscribe button, but I never see any address for his business in the emails. Is that not something that is required? I thought it was according to Can-spam act.

Unless their is some sort of exclusion of a rule like that if you signed up to be on the list? I don't think there is, but I'm no legal expert...

This gets on my nerves too.

Signed up for SocialMonkee ages ago. None of their emails have unsub links - it just tells you to login and opt out manually. So I login, opt out, AND delete my account.

Next day I get 2 more marketing emails from them. So I send them an email asking to be removed from their list - and get a reply telling me to click the unsubscribe link "located in every email"...

It's funny how you buy one silly product and then you get bombarded, or let's say spammed with offers every day, not only from that marketer, but from his "partners" as well.

I never get tired of hitting the "Spam" button, although reporting the *******s to W+, JVZoo, etc. - like someone suggested above - is not a bad idea

I hit back at these guys where possible, I usually send them a reply and say that their operating illegally and to reply to me if they want any direction/advice!

Mostly gets bounced but a few have replied and I've ended up selling them a $7 plr product on email writing do's and don'ts! It annoys me when people operate illegally but makes up for it when I make a few quid out of them!!!
