Looking for a MENTOR.. more of a PARTNER. Put me to work!

Hey all. I'm Danny. I've been browsing these forums for many, many months now. Picked up a ton of great info which has opened up my eyes. Some recent life events have forced me to stop thinking about these ideas and finally put them into action... Which is why I'm writing this to ask for guidance from someone in exchange for my work/services.

I've looked around for mentor/training programs I can get into, but I haven't been satisfied with what I've seen so far. I don't want to get sucked into one of those "get rich courses" where they teach you to "get rich" by creating similar type of courses... AKA, the classic send me $1 & i'll show you how to become a millionaire (by telling other people to send you a dollar). Don't feel comfortable trusting a lot of these gurus when they currently make most their money by selling training courses instead of actual IM work.

I want to work under a smart person on this board who is getting the results I want... the results that many of you brag about. I can spend more time digging out the information on this board, but I learn much faster with someone guiding me & telling me exactly what to do. My current job forces me to be a scatterbrain... and with so many different options & avenues to make money in IM, its hard for me to focus on one method and excel.

What I do now: In Miami, FL, I work as social media manager for a pretty famous DJ. Also travel on the road with him and make videos, take photos, & do various other management tasks. For example, we're going to Singapore tomorrow. Always in Vegas, NY, Chicago, and other cities as well... Meaning I have lots of down time in planes, hotels, etc..

What I can offer you: I'm very efficient in Final Cut pro making videos. Mostly nightclub/event videos for now, but transitioning to IM / sales videos would be a breeze. My current work can be found here: youtube.com/djirietv

Never been a "sales" writer, but english is my 1st language and I'm a college graduate. I can learn copywriting techniques with some practice/guidance. Screencasts, tutorial videos & webinars is something I have done or can do. Also, social media is pretty much my realm for my current job. I understand the internet fairly well and have worked with wordpress/dreamweaver for many years and manage newsletters for this DJ and other DJs.

Areas that interest me: Don't think I want to build amazon product sites. I'd like to try selling info products or non-digital products using list building techniques, webinars, video/article marketing. Never really got into adsense or google marketing but I would like to learn how to properly run/test/change ad campaigns. Possibly create my own products as well. A bit broad but maybe you can help me spot my strengths and narrow down the field for me.

Are you interested?? Although well versed in the web, I'm still a n00b to IM.. I really want this to be beneficial for both parties. Maybe you've wanted to try video stuff but haven't yet. Or maybe I have a skill you need or can use without having to pay someone else for it. I'm willing to give you 6 months of my spare time to help you make money as I learn the ropes... but really learn the ropes. I want to know why you do the things you do, what works and what doesn't. Help me with some of my ideas and stop me before I make mistakes you've made in the past. Help me save time.

If you can get me to a modest $500 or $1000 a month by Nov/Dec/January, I'll be a very happy man. Get me to your level and I'll be forever indebted to you.

Although only a measly amount, I can start our relationship by buying OptimizePress & EasyVideoPlayer through your affiliates link if you have. Don't have those yet for that reason. Also need scrapebox but don't think they have affiliate. Or any other programs/tools I might need.

Or if no one is interested, can someone please direct me to a proper mentor/training program? Not a program like i described in beginning.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
Cheers. Danny

Sounds good Danny. I could use that too. I just need SOMETHING to happen for me. even if it were just $500 or $1000 a month. I would be on FIRE! You would find nobody that would be more dedicated to doing this than me. I just need to see it. I've been in this for over a year & haven't made a single dime yet. I just need SOMETHING to break..

Thanks again for reading if you did.

Wanted to post picture so you can see my face but don't have enough posts yet. Can't send DMs either. So I'll figure a way to get in touch with you guys somehow.

Don't expect to partner with someone (if anyone is interested) in the next few days or couple weeks. I want to really know who I'll be dealing with, and I want you to know who I am. Ask me stuff. Pick my brain to see if you can really use me in a way that's beneficial for both of us.

      Hi Danny,

I'm not really looking for a partner but if you'd like to pick my brain on Skype for a bit I'd be glad to help and answer any questions you have. Just let me know a good time and I'll try to hop on and add you. I'm on MSN much more though so let me know and I can send you a PM with my info.

I shared a little bit about my story here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...t-success.html

      Best,

    Hi Danny,

I'm not the guy you're looking for. I don't think I can be of the help you're looking for. But, I was thinking you might be able to come up with something based on your preexisting skills.. i.e. video and social media.
I'm not sure what that looks like, but you've got some good skills. You might be able to create a video product about social media integration, or something similar.

I hope it works out for you. Good Luck!

Thanks Jim. I've actually have thought about that. Been working on a general product for DJs since I have gained some respect in the community with the work I do for a respected DJ. Would have the proper connections and support from the right people but I just need to make a good product. Waiting to improve my IM skills before I venture into that.

I just wanted to try to insert a pattern interrupt in here in regards to your goals. I see way, way too many people making the same mistake.

You should be able to get to $1,000 within the next 2-3 months if you have some decent skills, and it sounds like you do.

If I were you, I'd be setting my sights on making $15,000-$20,000 per month by December/January.

You might think the bigger goal doesn't change anything but it does because the mindset and actions that you take on a daily basis differ greatly when you are trying to make $20,000 per month compared to $1,000.

I see what you're saying Paul. I'm just trying to make conservative estimates because I don't want you people to think I'm a gullible n00b with no internet knowledge.

I see the potential for myself to accomplish those numbers. I wouldn't have my current job if I wasn't smart & a hard worker. Believe me. I don't just do videos, I work extensively on other projects for this entertainer.

But I've also seen absurd proclamations on this board yet still see loads of people struggling with all the competition out there. I'm just taking precautions and want to do this the right way.

If I were you, I'd do some research in the WSO and warrior for hire section.

But before you do that, you should think about what you intend to do.

Spend some time with doing research on the projects you intend to start and finish. Then, go get a mentor in the same field.

hi dvega finding a mentor for this stuff is really hard as most of the guys who are worth it are charging hundreds per hour to coach you. They don't really care so much about free labour as they are mostly using VAs from the phillipines.

Maybe you should offer to run their support desk for three months. But I suspect you dont have the flexibility to be on hand when they need you.

I second what Gerald said above. Figure out what you want to do. ie
    -Affiliate promotions
    -Product creation
    -Niche site/Adsense
    -List Building

Then go buy some WSO's centered around what you wanna do. Then go do it!

    Report back your findings man

I think you could do very very well with your video skills.

You could start a service, for video sales letters or something of that sort. Also, you can try some video marketing of your own on youtube, etc.

Of everything you mentioned, I don't see why you need scrapebox, at all.

The type of qualified mentor you seek is going to require quite a bit more than you have mentioned in this thread.

We get many requests every day in this forum of people looking for a mentor. They want it for barter or for almost no money or no money. And some of them too are not total noobs and have some skills.

The principles are the same for starting an online business as they are for any offline business. Once you fully realize this, you understand it is just a matter of some different technical skills needed to manage and operate.

Finding a great partner you trust can take months to years. I wish you luck in finding one, but I'd be really careful about it.

redicelander is on the best track IMO:

You could start a service, for video sales letters or something of that sort. Also, you can try some video marketing of your own on youtube, etc.
You have 3 choices. Sell a service, sell your stuff, or sell someone elses stuff.

Offering a service is the quickest way to raise some investment funds. It is also most likely the least glamorous but gets the job done.

You can sell your own stuff, be it physical or some kind of product you create or have created for you. This can take some serious time and thought to get together.

Or you sell someone elses stuff - like an affiliate. This too can be physical or digital.

Narrow this down first - and decide on a niche you are going to stick with long term. That is not to say, you might start with one and lead into a different one for the end goal.

Create a business plan for the next year. See if you can muster up a page with the end goal and what your profitable end business looks like. This may take you a week or two just to narrow down as there are so many options out there - but you will know yourself best and you are the best qualified for your own soul searching.

Figure out how much time per week you really have to commit to your business. Write down your schedule for the next 2 weeks, including family/personal time and include silly things like driving to work and filter down - because you will find you "think" you have a lot of time and all the sudden it really is just a few hours a week. This will also give you a clearer picture of how fast you can expect things to progress and move along.

Like offline, a lot of online things require you have systems in place. Lots of micro systems, which put together create the larger system that keeps things moving along. This isn't a "set up one website and sit back and make a bajillion dollars" business - but really is "dig in and get messy because it is likely to get really ugly before the beauty can emerge" type of thing.

Fail and fail fast so you can just fix and keep moving.

IMO, your time will be best spent offering a service of some kind and raising some money so you can actually hire a mentor should you still feel you need one in another month or so.

Thanks for the detailed reply Jill. I totally understand where you're coming from. Having funds is not a problem. I figure starting a video service would be a great start and get my feet in the door as I build my reputation in this field and get contacts. Selling affiliate products is something I want try though and get good at before I can actually build my own product one day.

Will take everything you said into consideration. Cheers.

Very true, even finding a good fit in a mentor can take months...took me a year, and I had to bring much more to the table for the mentor to get on board.

A partnership in many ways is more risky. At least in my case, I've found partnerships usually crash and burn.
