Are article directories any good?

Hey people,

I'm just wondering if using squidoo, hubpages and other similar services are also a good way to generate traffic to your website?

I been lately submitting my articles to diretories like ezine but I just hate to wait more then a week until they decide to review my writing besides without knowing if it will be publish.

I just wanted some opinions about the pros and cons from each one.

Thanks,
JBarros

I've always considered promotion through article marketing too much like hard work! I'm sure people have had real success with it. I just prefer easier, automated, methods.

Could you please give me an example of an automated method?

Backlinks from sites like Ezine have been severely devalued lately. They are now basically useless from a SEO point of view. It's all about article syndication right now.

I haven't received much traffic from article directories but then again my website might suck.

I don't like automated methods, Manually submission is too much better.

Yeah anyway I'm not really worry about backlinks since I'm promoting a squeeze page besides I'm not a great writer to get my articles syndicated. I just want is to get some decent traffic. I been doing blog, forum commenting but the traffic is very unstable.

So I was writing articles to get a more steady flow but ezine review are just way to slow and time is money.

Oh you mean automatic submission ok.

I have never found article methods of much use to be honest. Saying that though i have not really gone into full on article syndication yet.

I prefer focusing on search engine traffic which is usually much longer lasting.

I have been doing quite a lot of article writing...and I decided to let it go. Simply because it takes too much of our precious time.

Unless you are a FANTASTIC writer and have 1000s of views, then it might be a good option. Otherwise, it is better to choose other available options to generate traffic to your website.

    All the best!

One or two article directories are good, provided you use them for what they're intended for and don't try to use them for their own backlinks (no real benefits there), and especially not for their own traffic (no benefits, and can even sometimes do you damage). Posts #2 and #6 of this thread explain in detail: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

No, generally not: these are a very different proposition altogether. Discussed here - with reference to Squidoo, but the underlying principle (nothing to do with the advertising!) is exactly the same with others, too: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5999264

The proper use of the resource box in the article directories also counts here. If you could include a couple of keywords in the resource box too, then you could very well see some difference in the course of time.
