How to grow my list more?

Hey everyone,

So, I only realised the real importance of having a list.

So I started growing it last week. I bought 2 small solo ads and now have 50 subscribers.

I'm hoping to hear from some experienced list builders and my question is how would you grow that list from 50 to 100?

More solo ads is of course the obvious answer but I was hoping there might be a better way, paid or, preferably, free?

    Do you have a website with targeted viewers?? I just started building my list a little over two months ago and have a little over 200 subscribers so far. All have been free to get. If you do have targeted visitors, come up with a decent free ebook in return foe their email address.

    Sean,

    Have you tweaked your funnel with those 50 initial sign ups? It is important to do that to the point of at least being able to make $1 per list member .. that way you at least pay for your list as you go. Once you get to that point it really doesn't matter what method you choose.

      What do you mean tweaked my funnel?

      My funnel currently goes:
      Squeeze page ( Free webinar ) -> Thank you page -> confirmation email -> free webinar ( as promised ) -> oto at the end of the free webinar.

      That's it. Pretty basic

            Well, that's a problem. One you are going to need to solve first. It doesn't matter how many subscribers you throw at your funnel if you are not converting at all. I'm assuming this is what Troy means by tweaking your funnel to profitability first. 50 buying subscribers is better than 200 regular subscribers all day.

            As far as growing your list, you saw the link in the other thread I gave you. Article syndication is how I am growing mine, and it virtually guarantees targeted traffic that wants to hear what I have to say (and buy what I have to offer).

            Before running another ad you need to change the funnel some. To make a list with solo ads you must have a funnel that can produce at least as much as it is costing you to implement.

            What is your per click price? What is your total per subscriber price. We are happy to get any subscriber for less than a dollar if that funnel return is at least a dollar per.

            I suggest splitting your funnel. Send them to a thank you / oto and let the webinar be delivered via email. This gets the member used to opening your emails and also gives you the chance to monetize your funnel near the front. .

    If you want to build a serious list you need to be able to send paid traffic to your site and get on your list.

    In order to do this (and make money) you need to have a way to monetize that traffic. Sell something of yours or someone else's.

    Hmm... Where are you finding your Solo Ads?
    Perhaps choose something other than a free webinar...
    How many of your current subscribers are actually
    opening the emails and attending the webinar?

    I like to give 10 to 30 days of free lessons,
    (about something they cannot learn anywhere else)
    which also gets people into the habit of actually
    opening and reading my emails.

    Troy is exactly right, although I would say that if you are buying good Solo Ads, and getting subscribers in the neighborhood of .40 to .80 each, you re probably going to make your money back in a few months anyway. Just don't go overboard and over-extend yourself beyond your budget, and test and tweak your email campaigns to see what is working the best. (Change email titles if they are not being opened, change a little content if links are not being clicked on, etc.)

    Hi Sean, as Tory explained you need to focus on tweaking and testing out your sales funnel before you buy any more Solo Ads, or simple teak to your sales funnel can make a BIG difference.

    Here are a couple of tweaks you can implement in your sales funnel

    - If your squeeze page isn't converting above 40%, then make sure it does.
    - Create another version of your Squeeze Page, you can change the headline or call to action. Just change 1 thing only.
    - Choose a OTO that has an EPC value above $1.00

    Once you have tweaked your sales funnel, it is recommended that you splt test your squeeze page, you can use Google Website Optimiser for A/B split test.

    Once you tweaked your sales funnel, purchase a small Solo Ad, around 100 Clicks will be fine, then check Google Optimiser to see which Squeeze Page converted well.

    Then from this point onwards, you simply rinse and repeat by tweaking and testing again.

    To carry on after you've set up your sales funnel...

    You should then look at creating a few WSO's to get more people on your list.
    You can do this in two ways;

    1. Create a free WSO
    Or
    2. Create a cheap WSO (say $7). The advantage of a cheap WSO instead of a free one is that you know all of these people are buyers. And it's much better to have a list of buyers than freebie seekers

    But as everyone else in the thread has said... Make sure you perfect your sales funnel first.

    I'm not sure what you guys keep telling him to do as in getting at least a dollar per subscriber? If he's trying to build a list to market to down the road then he'll have to wait before he has any data on what he's making per subscriber on average. How can anyone guarantee a buck off of any subscriber, unless it is a lead to someone else's list?

    Congratulations on 50 subscribers!

    Create a "squeeze" page and link to it from forum signatures, social media profiles, etc. It's best to send your traffic to a squeeze pages, because they only have two options: Sign up, or leave the page

    if you want to build your list fast then paid traffic is the only way to go and you will generally get better quality too

    free traffic should always be coming in anyway if you have your traffic vehicles in place

    Bang out more squeeze pages, send traffic, test different squeeze pages (video/text only/different headlines) and keep building your list. You'll learn along the way. And sales will start coming in.

    I use a lot of PPC for traffic. It's highly targeted and I get a lot of buyers this way.
