Focus on making your "Quirkiegifts" site convert better. Jumping from one project to another is a recipe for achieving nothing.

This question isnt based for me.

I have friends who are interested in setting up their own business and asked me ask this question along with other questions i ask on here.

p.s. I dont think looking into anything else if i was interested to do this would harm anything im working on. I'm 100% devoted to the website i have in my signature/username but even if i wanted to ask questions about other business opportunites and how to go about setting them up etc, im seeking advice from WF users which isnt harmful and not to be advised im not taking things seriously.

Use whitelabeldating for creating site. Then for starting you site, you may create some fake profile and after getting popular remove all those profiles. And getting real use you should use social networking sites. You may also use Adword and Facebook ads program.

To be honest I'd advice your friends not to go for it.

Really there is so much competition in the dating niche, and you're up against some really big sites.

Do they have a marketing plan and a budget?

But if they really want to, go for the tips already posted.

i wouldnt suggest you to go with whitelabeldating [that is global personal based in windsor UK]
you would spend lots of money on design and then not many thing are in your hands and this company is already under investigation for some of their approaches. you can simply search for whitelabeldating dot com reviews on google and you will see that customers dont prefer to register on their sites any more because at one point or other, they have been sucked by this company.

by the way i have a dating site with them and to be honest i am completely devasted with them

i am earning more than £1600 / month from my other site which I have setup with another platform, the truth is they are truly a dedicated company and your friend can really make good money with them and he will have control on most of his site such as adding pages, on site optimisation etc.
if your friend will be interested, just let me know and i can send you details.
    Good Luck

It's been already said above that there are a lot of big websites in the industry and overall the market is pretty saturated. However, if your friends are really determined to do something in the dating industry they could target some particular group and dig in that direction. There are still quite a few very profitable niches out there that are growing.

And this is where they could take advantage of a white label solution (I'm not talking about particular company like Whitelabel dating or another company datingworld mentions, but about the business model itself). Such websites are easy to set up and you'll get a really good site with a lot of features right away. Your partner company will help you take care of all technical stuff. Moreover, from the day one your members will have access to the existing member base. If you start from the scratch, it may take years to build up the number of active members. Moreover, depending on a company you'll own that member base that is brought by you. On your side you would just need to come up with your own domain, and promote your own already fully-functioning product. You will work on revenue share with that big company that offers you a template and member base. Usually the higher total revenue is, the higher your stake is At least all of this works for the company I have personal experience with.

So as you can see white label idea isn't bad by itself. it's a good option if you want to kick-start your online dating business. Just choose the right partner.

Online personal/dating services have become the most profitable businesses on the internet. According to the Online Publishers Association "The Personals/Dating category surpassed both Business/Investments and Entertainment/Lifestyles to become the largest paid content category in 2002 with $302 million in revenues, up from $72 million in 2001."

I had a question about building your own site or even using a template but buying your own profiles. Say about 10,000 or so. Anyone know about buying profiles from a reputable company?

maybe you can replicate an existing dating site. how to find traffic can advertise on SEO or PPC and adbanner. and its monthly fee for membership of $ 5 for a trial period, if it is running could cost $ 20 per month.

Thanks Star. Not sure if replicating will solve the problem of making my site look like it has members. I thought i could buy a file wich contained member profiles, then upload them to my data base or something like that. But I do plan on replicating plenty of fish with a whole different unique niche. I'm going to customize it but I need to have profiles up to make the site seem active and busy. I plan on removing them once I get real members.
