Marketing to Generation Y and Millenials?

So I was just curious if anyone has had success marketing to the younger generations. I'm in Generation Y so I should have a decent idea, but I'd like to hear what others have to say.

I think Generation Y:

-Is less receptive to hard sales pitches.
-Are more skeptical
-Trust someone with a track record
-Like something that supports a cause
-Support someone they identify with

What are your thoughts?

Hmm.. my campaign results beg to differ. I don't think that painting over everyone with a large black brush is the way to get the best results.

There is a South Park episode that effectively explains this phenomena.

We wrote a bit about this recently, maybe some of these tips can help:

    1. We are smarter than you think. Plus, we have a practically limitless access to information.

    2. Stop trying to hide that you are marketing. Disguising the fact that you are marketing is fine up until a certain point- but eventually, you need to tell us why your product or service is better.

    3. We love to shop online. It needs to be simple and streamlined- if you can't do it, somebody else can.

    4. Get controversial. Viral can only take you so far. Your brand needs to inspire conversation.

    5. We demand quality service.

Those are the bullet points, but if you want to read more it's all right here: The Right Way To Market To Millennials - Velocity Agency

Hope this can be of some help!
