Where To Get Free Pictures For Blog?

Hi guys,

I've been blogging for a little while now, but one of the biggest problems I have encountered is finding a good source for free images to post within each one of my Wordpress blogs. I use Zemanta quite a bit, but would like to use some other sources that are entirely free. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There's many threads about this topic so it's a good idea to use the search feature first. Saves you some time. But here you go:

    1) StockVault.net
    2) SXC.HU
    3) FreeFoto.com
    4) MorgueFile.com
    5) FreePhotosBank.com
    6) Mayang.com
    7) ImageAfter.com
    8) KaveWall.com
    9) PDPhoto.org
    10) OpenClipArt.org
    11) FreeStockImages.net

    Always double check the
    licensing details.

2 friends and I just started a new business offering stock pictures. We're specializing in new exclusive pictures, stuff you can only buy on our site. We're shooting realistic pictures, not the fake looking stuff you see on most stock sites.

You can sign up and get free stock pictures emailed to you every week and if you want more pictures we're offering XL pictures for less than $.05 each.

Try it, stockphotocheap.com and at least get the more than 100 free stok pictures per year.

I know this is going to be a little bit hard for you, but I have a suggestion. The others have given good stock photo sites, and I think that they would definitely be useful especially if you need a lot of 'em.

Okay, on with the tip. When you're blogging, you're building your reputation, right? What better way to build your reputation than to interact with other bloggers? Why not try asking for pictures from the other bloggers and giving credit to them for sharing it to you? You can also do the same for art communities like deviantArt.

    Wikipedia!

Careful though - check the license of the particular image, but many are creative commons.

I get most of my pictures from Flickr for free. Before getting the photo I contact the owner and ask kindly if I could use his/her photo in my website.
So far only one flickr member has rejected my request.

A great resource is Flickr. But, make sure you go to the advanced search and check the box next to the option for pictures under the Creative Commons license and also the box under that for commercial uses.

I can also add Picdrome Public Domain Copyright-Free Pictures, a growing Public Domain picture collection, free of copyright and licensed under Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Public Domain Dedication. All items are free to download for personal and commercial use, without restriction and are available in high definition.

You can use public domain images which are free for anyone to use. Just Google public domain images and you will find many sources. Also in Wikipedia if you check the images published there you will find many that are in the public domain or creative commons. With creative commons images you usually have to publish the name of the image owner under the image. You can find free to use images at morguefile.com also. JM

Of these three options, the cheapest is using creative-commons licensed images. Creative Commons is a non-profit system that offers an alternative to full copyright. Basically, it's a special licensing system that allows people to use content without the hassles of negotiation, licensing and fees. It's worth spending a few minutes studying the different options available through Creative Commons at Creative Commons

One of my favorite places to find Creative Commons-licensed (CC) images is Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing because Flickr has tons of CC images and they make it easy to find images that carry those licenses.

You can also get free pictures from Wiki Commons. Just Google it, there are tons of royalty-free pictures you'll find in there.

Flickr is a great place to get images. However, be sure that you check that you want to browse the creative commons images.

There are two main ways we look for images:
sxc.hu (actually owned by getty images) look for "standard license use" unless you're willing to link back to image

Google.com image search (select Commercial use option) though it'll still be a bit risky there.

    Hi,
Iconfinder.com and public domain images and pixabay.com. Be sure and use the filter to find out which ones are free and not copyrighted. ! I have never heard of Zemanta. Thanks for the tip.
