Clickbank Conversions

What is an acceptable conversion to click(hop) rate for a clickbank product?

I have been using PPC to drive traffic direct to an affliate link. I can see clickbank has recorded 429 hop count, yet no conversion.

The product has a high gravity, it is one of the high sellers on clickbank. It has a gravity of 150

Some of the traffic is from 7search which I know some people think is less quality then other sources, but the hops are coming from the products main keywords, so I would have expected at least 1 or 2 conversions.

P.s. I am new to clickbank as you can no doubt tell. Do these guys use a affliate cookie for a return customer visit (in much the same way as amazon). I expect a lot of people might come in via the hop link which then redirects to the main URL, they then bookmark the main URL and return later. That would suck.

    Presell, not sell.

Directing people straight from PPC to the affiliate page (i.e. sales page) will yield generally poor results.

If you intend to do this for the long term, I suggest building a site around a niche of the CB products you're interested in, and provide great information first.

Do SEO for long term traffic, please your human visitors so that they become pre-sold to what you have to offer.

Only then, recommend the CB products. The conversion rate is way higher.

The slightly faster route than this is to do product reviews instead.

There could be a few reasons this is happening to you, including the sales page itself. Depending on the niche you're in, a number of sales page are "blind." This means that they don't tell the customer what they are getting and stuff. Having a landing page or product review that tells about the product and answers questions that the customer has, your conversions will go up drastically.

    Good luck,

That means your traffic isn't targetet to the right product. Conversion can be 0% to xx% if you have the right traffic for your product.

But in your case you don't know what kind of traffic is driving to the page. So you must create a landing page with more genereal and catchy info than the sales page. The content must be ready to convert the visitors to customers.

Thought 7search was mainly gamers, is that a suitable demographic.

The 'gurus' I have read seem to recommend bailing out when your testing cost reaches twice the offer payout, perhaps it's time to move on.

Some CB affiliate page give a conversion rate spec., probably from their initial test marketing, I believe anyone bragging about conversion gets better than a 2% rate.

My brief look at scraped data showing the number of sites promoting a given product seemed to show a smaller percentage of those promoting higher gravity products are making sales, the might just show that a lot of low traffic rookies gravitate toward the big sellers.

--- A couple of other comments on 7search from another forum ---

"I don't know how this company stays in business, I've yet to hear anything good about them from anyone.
Their traffic quality is abysmal as well. I had a site last year that was converting at 5% on a $20 sale, I sent 1k hits from 7 search using the exact same keywords I was using with good results in bing and google - not a single sale."

"IMO, 7search has really taken a dive in their traffic quality enforcement. I've submittted tickets and got the standard "maybe your keywords are too broad". Issue is that the ticket was submitted because I caught bot traffic clicking and it resulted in extremely poor quality.
I used to recommend them, but not anymore. It's a shame too, I really liked their traffic and prices."

"Their traffic is about as useful as a chocolate firegaurd. I too recied tens of thousands of "hits" and about 2 sign ups...This was 6+ years ago. I dumped them.
I agree with the above guy..How the hell do they stay in biz? That to me is about their most impressive biz! If they can make money sellnig that traffic you can make money ANYWAY!!!"

"Guys, are You check traffic sources? Some months ago I run test campaign at 7search and after I check from which pages traffic come to my test page (arbitrage test page), I do not wonder why they click so badly - mainly of my traffic come from overstuffed with adds landing pages. So you get what you pay for, cheap leftovers from squeezed till last drop traffic.
So far I do not found how to convert such traffic, so give up with these company."

Your main problem is that your using *cough* 7Search. You state you have heard bad things about them, there's a reason.

Excellent tips and thanks all round.

Landing Page it is, which makes sense, even though my lazy side shuffled in his seat.

I already have one in place which is approved and running on adcenter - I will perhaps look at focusing there more.

SEO is going on in the background, but with google changing the game every other week I don't want to rely on them for traffic.
