Membership site

I'm starting up a membership site that will have After Effects tutorials and more. I'm wondering whats the best way to go around promoting it. I'm going to use Wordpress to host the site on. I don't want to spend too much on PPC or SEO services either.

    Social bookmarks... try facebook, twitter, digg, stumbleupon etc. Maybe join other forums yourself and start a discussion about your site.

      I agree with what Asepkomara said, I think forums or communities where people would be interested in your products is a fundamental "marketing" pillar that many people overlook. Probably because it requires some work.

      I also like the idea of giving out some review copies and requiring some reviews in return.

    Sounds interesting...

    You can try giving some of the tutorials away
    for free on YouTube. Make a quick video about
    how to make a particular effect - and at the
    end of the video, direct them to your website
    for even more awesome effects.

    It's pretty important that you do some keyword
    research to find out what people are searching
    for though.

    You can either use Google's Keyword Tool
    (do a search for that) or YouTube's Keyword Tool
    (https://ads.youtube.com/keyword_tool)

    Most people don't even know YouTube has a
    keyword tool and it is heavily underutilized.

    Use it to do some research and you can
    very possibly dominate YouTube with proper
    research and creating an awesome channel.

    The key is to become known as an authority so ingratiate yourself into some relevant forums and get started on social networking and bookmarking. Guest blogging is another great way to do this, but you might have to wait until you have a small following before you can do this.
