Hi,

I just thought I'd share this, thought it was funny.

I needed a voiceover for a promotional video, so posted the job requirements. I explicitly stated must be a native female English speaker, send a voice sample in the bid.

So far, three bids. So far, no one seems to be able to follow instructions or actually meet any of the requirements. The only woman who actually included a voice sample sounds like she has a thick serbia-croatian accent. 2nd woman, apparently an actress wannabe, sends me a link to her online resume/profile (vidoes where she looks dolled up, & she has some credits, but she doesn't actually 'say' anything, and portfolio "pictures". I don't need pictures, I need a voice). 3rd woman 'says' she's a native speaker, yet -- her bid contains a whole bunch of grammatical mistakes, and no voiceover. I.e., "We would likes to bid on you're most grateful bid most gracious sir". Huh?

UPDATE: Finally got voice samples... one, while she 'put' her profile has being in an native english speaking country, sounds like she has a very, VERY thick east indian accent... arg!

Ahhhhhhhhh. the joys of outsourcing!

(PPS, in all fairness, I should say I do have some 'great' outsourcing stories, i.e., where people are amazingly competent, So I definitely have had some excellent experiences. I just thought this one was funny )

    Excellent!! I have been there.
All I seemed to get from gig requests is
"Yes I can do that, what is it you want?"

After that they come to WF, hit "New Thread' and complain how no one would hire them.

So many people wonder why they don't land online jobs... I think this sums up exactly why they are unable to do so. If you can't read simple instructions, I don't think you should be able to bid on these websites and waste the time of employers.

That is why I like vWorker.com: How work gets done. Guaranteed! - they have an anti-spam bid feature where if a worker does not read the description properly and provide a brief summary of what the project entails, they cannot post a bid. If their summary is not accurate and their bid is spammy, you can just have their account blocked!

Why are you posting such requests when they are many professionals looking to work for you? Personally i think the voiceover gigs are one of best quality on fiverr. Just do a little search by your own and check their samples. Less time wasted and less frustration

Never occurred to me to look on fiverr.. I might do that.

(Look at some of the gigs looks like getting candy from a candy store . Inexpensive, and a bit of a sugar rush, and some of them not necessarily that good for you! (i.e., seo services for $5/sending out to link farms, etc )!)

It is amazing how uncommon common sense is. If I want to work for someone, the first question I ask is, "what does that person expect from me?" And the second, "How can I deliver that...and more?"

If you ask those two questions, and honestly evaluate the answers, you will have more work than you can handle.

It's what you do when no one is watching
that determines what you will be able to
    do when everyone is watching.

Yes, that story is really funny. It seems it repeats itself to many of us...! I've heard good comments for fiverr too...!

I've never outsourced voiceovers, but if I was going to, the first place I would go would be contentbyjeff.com.

The guy's got some awesome samples on his website.

Just my opinion. I prefer to use outsources that I've good things about and Jeff, I have. Although, like I say, I haven't used it personally. Freelance sites I'm not keen on myself.
