Writing Topics for my Writers Porfolio?

I have a few ideas for my writers portfolio. I will be doing extensive research on these topics, and want to make it a little fun for myself, since I won't be getting paid for it.

What do you guys think of these topics?

1. The World Wrestling Entertainment Montreal Screwjob
2. The Struggles of Steve Jobs
3. The Domestication of Animals
4. The Beginnings of Music
5. How to Make a Sweater

How long should each article be?

Remember, this will be what my clients will see to determine whether they want to give me work or not.

It's diverse, and if they are topics you will enjoy writing about they should do the trick.

As for how long they should be, I'd say it depends on the article lengths you intend to sell. So let's say you were going to offer 500,100, and 2000 word articles:

1 500 word article- the one you can write the least about

2 1000 word articles- the next two that you can find the least amount of information on

2 2000 word articles- pick the best of those two topics and go to town.

The point is that you want to be able to show that you can write the types of articles that you are claiming to be able to write.

Great, thank you. I was really hoping you responded to this.

      Off to work.

I completely agree with Joe: different lengths which match the different lengths you're offering.

You have some really good subjects, there. And just the right sort of mix. And have done really well - for "specimen articles" - to avoid "obvious, popular niche subjects for large numbers of marketers".

        Good luck!
