Wow. Google deindexes 2 of my sites for ...

...using paid link directories.

That's the only reason I can figure. I know Google doesn't like paid links, but deindexing a site because of a paid directory link is BS. It's dumb. The Yahoo directory is a paid directory also. Are they going to deindex all the sites that are listed there?

By the way, these were for niche directories and I wanted to also get direct traffic from them. Google sucks sometimes. What else is new though?

Google has been "backing off" of directories for a time now. That's why I don't put any directories in my backlink packages. (I put one directory in one packet, but don't put them in, anymore.) Google took all the recommendations about directories, including Yahoo, off their Webmaster information area and I wouldn't advise using directories.

If you have hundreds of links and only one or two are paid for, I am surprised they de-indexed you. Do you have a competitor who possible turned you in? Did you appeal?

Yeh, one of the sites is 4 years old with many backlinks. I usually don't use directories much but wanted to get an extra boost for this site plus it looked like a directory that could get me direct traffic. I only used two paid directories and those two sites were deindexed. I mean, come on Google. I don't mean they dropped in the serps, the sites are even indexed at all anymore.

Please don't jump me for what I am about to say. Please listen and really think about this.

Google does not de-list sites for having links on paid directories, FFA's or even extremely bad properties. Yes they very well could ignore the links but that is it.

    Now here is why...

If it was true you could easily go submit all the sites above you in the serps to paid directories, FFA's and bad properties and get them all delisted and you would rise to the top.

Read the above paragraph again and really think about it. That does NOT happen.

    Just my 2 cents.
