Monetizing blogs vs Paid-for membership site
I'm currently writing a lot of content & video tutorials for a site which I was planning on rolling-out later this year. But despite having operated a few very successful internet sites for 7 years, I've had a nagging doubt that this new site may be tricky, simply because it's educational in nature. Previous sites have provided services, whereas this site tells people how to do it for themselves. I've often found that people want the easy way (done for them) rather than learning to do it for themselves.
Anyway, so I was thinking today maybe most/all of the site should be free and I should treat it more like a blog and monetize it in different ways rather than charging for access to everything.
Anyone here have strong opinions either way ? Are there any good guides or website about monetizing blogs ?
