Warrior's Names Used On Review Site

by ExRat 49 replies
Hi,

Just doing some research and I found some of my warrior friends names used on a review site for testimonials that I have no doubt that they didn't give.

I've checked with one warrior and they have confirmed that they did not provide these testimonials.

Nothing new here, there are scumbag name scrapers all over the place but I figure that education, and spreading information is a good way to fight these problems.

The site is -

reviews***elite dotcom (remove the three asterixes)

Put the string below into google if you want to find if your name is mentioned there - (try your warrior ID and your name - they are mainly using peoples' names)

YOURNAME site:reviews***elite dotcom

(remove the three asterixes again and of course change dotcom to .com)

There are some pretty bad/misleading testimonials on there attached to some prestigious warriors' names.

Waggers

JT

You are all on there.

The domain has whoisguard and they are using the clickbank affiliate ID 'awesomex'

I imagine an email to their host, or to clickbank, or the registrar might be the best course to give them some trouble?

HTH

Edit - I have another 'lead' to follow based on where I found this site from. I will update if I get any more help from my 'investigations'.

I think JT is going to be a pissed off - there are several 'testimonials' with his name and all contradictory.

How could this idiot think they were going to get away with this?

      Hi Iain,

Even though they haven't used photos, it does make me think about a recent thread about keeping your identity private on warrior/forums.

As you can see, I choose to be open about who I am but this does make me think.

For example, I haven't given a testimonial in a few years. After giving out a handful when I first started to people who deserved them, I decided I didn't like to do it at all because after a few they become meaningless and I don't like to give the impression i can be 'bought' (I can't ), therefore you don't see my name attached as testimonials to any WSOs or hardly any products out there (unless I have unknowingly been used.)

So obviously, it would peeve me to see my name being dragged through the mud in this way - and I WOULD hit them hard in whatever way I could. I have plenty of time and resources available to protect my 'brand'.

      Hi Thomas,

Yes I saw that one too. That's what I mean - this person seems to have a grudge and has got their kicks by deliberately using insulting comments in their fake testimonials - which is why they need to be hunted down like a 'common pygmy' (Frank Drebben reference).

Did he use their website URLs or photos as well? There are thousands of John Taylors, even if he made the review up.

He says, "from the Warrior forum" with the names attached. Steven W. Bev C and lots more. (he spells out the entire name. Mike F gives a rave review for "Tattoo me now."

He had John making just $5 a day, and there is a review from Paul Myers and Mike F as well.

Dan he uses names of people and says they are from the Warrior Forum. I don't know more than one John T on the warrior forum.

I am quoted giving a review of 3 products that I know nothing about. Not the reviews but the products themself.

The warriors names that are mentioned all have either warrior forum or from the warrior forum review.

          Hi Dan,

One thing that I always try to help people to understand is that the two most powerful tools are right in front of you - one is the internet browser that you use and the other is the search box within it.

I have been using this forum for a few years now and have learnt much from here, but I always learn the most by using those two tools and also by actually testing things rather than just taking what I see on the forum as gospel - so it's an ingrained habit of mine to be really 'nosey' because I learn the most from being like that.

Did he use their website URLs or photos as well? There are thousands of John Taylors, even if he made the review up.
I don't mean to pick on you, but your post is a good example - it would be much more enlightening for you to take a quick peek at the url I provided for you and see for yourself than to ask a question here.

Please don't take this as a dig - I'm simply trying to help as many warriors as possible succeed by pounding into them to use their browser and use google to be VERY nosey. That is how I found the site during the course of my work

Since this thread was so efficient I thought to piggyback on it:

Yesterday our infamous spammer "Mike Derosa" ("Wilhelm Chase")

                          Hi Steven,

An RPD is a reverse phone directory. That's where you enter a phone number to see who it belongs to.

Also, I have seen you speak your mind, but I don't ever recall you mentioning a physical act. I am not a violent person, but stuff like this is really asking for it.

                              Hi all,

I got a reply from the person I mentioned above - I am a member of their membership site and so is this mystery person.

It was (kind of) via this membership site that I found the review site, although I didn't need to be a member to do it. I was doing some usual exrat due diligence research and followed a link from here to somewhere else that allowed me to investigate the membership site I was thinking of joining. (Phew, that was a mouthful).

The membership site owner has removed this review site 'from their system' (it's not actually IN the system as such) and is looking closely at everything else the person has done within the site.

I touched upon the fact that it would be helpful for us to know who it was, but also that I understood that the membership site's privacy policy would probably not allow them to reveal it.

The person didn't address this therefore I presume I am correct about the privacy issue.

Of course, if the person reads this and comes back to me with any more help then I will offer whatever help I can.

Sorry Dan, but with respect, I don't see the point of speculating about the age or anything else about the perpetrator. At the same time I don't advise physical violence in order to exact revenge on anyone (note the word 'advise').

My opinion is that - 'if you play with fire, you might get your fingers burnt.' It annoys me a little when people come into a business environment (obviously an environment that connects directly to the livelihoods of big proper adults ) and then try and excuse their actions (or others try and excuse them) based on their age, or anything else.

I've seen this a lot online, particularly in my early days on ebay. I remember the time username Jason06301989 tried to tell me he was the founder of ebay....

Whoever it was did the right thing earlier today by pulling it down.

The best lesson to learn here is to be vigilant, use that damn google thingy to keep an eye on things out there, take action once you find something and then tell Bev...

ExRat the sniffer dog sticking his nose into everything he probably shouldn't

I feel bad for this guy... he really has some beef with people for some reason, but some of those reviews were pretty funny...

"Definitely recommended. I make very little money online, but I recently brought this and really hope it helps me out. The private members area has quite a lot of stuff and I will probably need all the help I can get."

Just from reading posts here...you know they wouldn't have said the shit on those pages...

I should not have been drinking coffee at the time I read some of them lol

Thank you Bev for letting me know this. Don't know who this ****** is but I've emailed him (using the Whois guard email - which should redirect to his email) and hope he removes my name, along with the other warriors.
              Hi Stanley,

Sorry to hear about that. Hope he will respond soon.

Btw, How can we get the Whois guard email?

              Cheers,

You know what really gets me mad is that the $%(#*$ misspelled my last name.

I hope he gets everything that's coming to him, and more.

What is really funny is that the first one that has my name in it suggests I had a chance to read Steven's review before I made mine. Who writes reviews like that.

Plus, he was trying to make us all look pathetic. If it can be proven he's a Warrior then he needs to be outed immediately.

Thanks Bev for sending me a personal email on this.

Personally I think he can be held for libel(?) for purposefully trying to damage our reputations. Make the S.O.B. pay.

    ~Michael O-K-S-A

p.s. Steven, sorry to hear your business is struggling.

    Hi Roger,

Oh man, that stinks! I believe people will do almost anything as long as they don't get caught.

Btw, very nice of you to let everyone else know ... good going on that one!

Hmmm. Claims to be one Jennifer Hawkins (jenniferhawkins@comcast.net), located in Australia. Does Comcast operate in Oz?

If not, or if the whois info listing the address is provably wrong, there might be something more ... permanent ... that can be done about this site.

I'd really like to know who this one is.

Glad you guys got this taken care of, it's frightening to think what could be done to a person's reputation with shady tactics like this!

If you don't already do this, you might consider setting up a Google alert for your full name (use quotes so you don't get thousands of alerts for anyone with a matching first name or last name, etc.), also your products names, blogs, websites, URLs, or your WF name. You'll get an email anytime someone uses any of them online.

            Google Alerts

            Nifty little tool!

I wonder if someone could be in trouble for something like this?
It could be under Forgery. Conspiracy to commit fraud. Identity theft.
I am sure there are many more things that this good be illegal about.
I think I may be mad about this, and as far as the people who may ask "but what if it is driving traffic to your site?" Well, to be honest, I do not know. It would depend on the traffic, but I believe that I would still inquire about it and maybe ask for some sort of change so as to tweak it for my benefit.
I don't know really, but I do understand how someone could be upset about this.

    Just a thought.

It is much easier and safer to simply ask people to try your product. If it's good, they certainly do not mind giving you a legal tender testimonial!!!

          Too much. :p

Blokes are still young when they wake up with 'bed-head' and they can just go out and get complimented on their trendy,messed-up-look hair-style. If I try that, people hand me charitable donations and tell me to go and get a bite to eat.

Girls are still young when life hasn't become one long slog of faked o*****s.
