Best platform for an authority site?

Hi there, just wanted to ask in your opinions what platform eg. Wordpress, Blogger etc would be the best for a constantly updated authority website? I want it to be able to look professional and very customisable with the ability to add pages with ease so please advise me what would be the best as i am pretty unexperienced in this field.

Many thanks.

Well, definitely not Blogger, because it wouldn't be your site, there: Blogger would own and ultimately control it (and can remove it whenever they feel like it!).

A Wordpress blog on your own hosting would be fine, I'm sure. (Not one at wordpress.com, though, which is an even worse bet than Blogger!).

There are several authority websites on wordpress platform. So you should be just fine with wordpress. Some people say CMS like joomla and drupal are much powerful than wordpress - so you might want to look into that.

If you're looking for a free host, Blogger would be the best though you will be at Google's mercy because they're known to leave their users searching for their blogs only to find that it's been shut down.

There are ways to customize a 'Blogger blog' to look like a professional site. Also, Google is partial to its own blogs especially if you have good content.

If you are going to make all that great work, time and effort into building an authority site why on earth would you host it on free host (that can go out of business) or one owned by someone else (who could take it down at a whim).

Get your own hosting at the very least.

Wordpress is easy to SEO and create due the large amount of free plugins.

If you are not experienced in SEO or web design then probably best stick with that.

However if your a skilled at at SEO and web design then whatever you are familiar with is probably best.

You can go with Wordpress, which is what most people use. Some other CMS's like Joomla will do as well.

I don't recommend Blogger as you would not own the domain and the site would not even belong to you.
