Tip for Warriors who need to write a sales page! (DIY TIP)

INTERNET MARKETING

This is a quick tip to my fellow Warriors who might not have the budget to pay a writer for a sales page and you want to write it yourself. This is great if you're working on your first product

Simply record your voice while pretending to describe your product to a close friend; convincing him/her
to buy it. After recording, simply go back and transcribe your recording. Edit (or have someone else edit)
the copy you've created.

There you go...instant copy!

If you don't wanna do it yourself, you now have a good baseline in which to place your expectations when you hire someone!

  We'll if you believe in your product and it provides value then you should be able to convince them - the point is to be able to get the flow of the sales page.

Yesterday I put up my first WSO, which contains the first sales page I wrote. I ended up writing my first draft, I then showed a couple of friends who thought it was ok. I ended up occasionally having flashes of inspiration and adding parts to or changing parts of the sales page. I showed a few of my friends the final sales page before I put the WSO up, and they had the same opinion that it was OK.
I personally think it's pretty good for my first try at writing a sales page.

DIY = Do it yourself

I've used this method several times when first getting into IM (over 4 years ago)...I wouldn't say I wrote the best sales letter lol, but for a "newbie" I was able to convince prospective buyers and generate sales.

I am now able to pay U.S. based writers if I ever need for web content,etc (since I have more capital).

Sounds good in theory but here's the problem...

My friends are not Internet Marketers... When writing copy you want to put yourself in the shoes of the BUYER, not just explain the product... what makes the product unique, what problems does it solve and why should they buy it from you?

If you're friends are in the same niche then sure, this would work.

I say this time and time again, don't see hiring a copywriter as an expense... If you do a good job finding a decent one, their page will pay you back a lot more then the initial INVESTMENT.

I agree Andy I never said NOT to pay a pro writer, but rather giving a tip to those looking to create an outline,etc.

For example, my brother is a Dentist and when I was selling a software app to dentists, I used this and put together a mini sales page (which later on was edited by a pro writer). But I was able to get the ball rolling and test my sales copy. I was able to generate some interest/leads from the sales page I put together myself (which I sent out in an email blast to dentists).

This can can work for any niche obviously, not just IM product sales pages.

  Here's the world's second easiest sales page...
  
  1. Write a headline. (Keep it honest. This cuts down on refunds.)
  
  2. Write three benefits of your product.
  
  3. Tell your own story, (or that of someone else): how you had the experience and insight which led to the success you've achieved.
  
  4. Write more benefits, like this: feature + benefit.
  
  5. What the product contains.
  
  6. Short testimonials, or reviews.
  
  7. Bonuses.
  
  8. Scarcity. Why they should buy NOW (price going up on _____ (date), or limited availability.)
  
  9. Call to action.
  
  10. Buy button.
  
  11. Add a P.S. -- if you like. If not, forget it.
  
  You should be able to write this in well under an hour; half an hour once you've done it a few times.
  
  Here's the world's easiest sales page -- this is the "catalog copy" option...
  
  1. A headline.
  
  2. A couple of paragraphs describing the product.
  
  3. Title and page of contents, plus image if you like.
  
  4. Call to action.
  
  4. Scarcity.
  
  5. Buy button.

  ANYONE can write the catalog copy version. Indeed, for many products, it's all that's needed.
  
  Remember: you can always tinker with the sales page once it's selling. Getting your sales page online is what's important.

I tend to dictate most stuff, including articles, as I feel a "discussion" feel to most print has a less salesy feel
