How I Made $200.00 In 10 Seconds

When you're promoting affiliate products, make sure you record, monitor, and track your affiliate commission payments.

It has happened to me thrice before - not getting paid my affiliate commissions. The most current one involves a $200 affiliate commission which I almost lost, have I not emailed the merchant.

The merchant said that she has changed virtual assistants thrice, so the $200 I earned last year was not paid. If I didn't check my affiliate stats, it's bye-bye $200.

That's why my advice is to put all the affiliate programs you're promoting in an Excel File. Include a column for payment date and payment threshold.

If it's Clickbank, obviously there's no problem. But if you're promoting individual affiliate programs, you need to make sure you're getting paid for your efforts.

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for sharing. $200.00 in 10 seconds
    is pretty good. Congratulations!

Recording your income stream through an excel sheet
is an awesome idea. I believe if one operate ones finances, both private and business with a money budget, you truly gain a remarkable control of your finances.

I am sure there are MANY affiliates losing a lot of money as a result of not monitoring in detail their income/ expenses.

I have experienced the exact same thing, and I decided to apply a specific budget both for my private and business finances. I recommend other people who are serious about their financial future do the same.

    Keep up the great work!

    Eirik.

      You are EXACTLY right!

3 Days back I refered one of my clients to a hosting I prefered for my script. I didn't get the affiliate commission ($65.00).

I checked affliate link. It creating cookies OK. I don't know what happened, I emailed host and after couple of confirmations, I got credited $65.00.

So if you are promoting few affiliate programs, be sure to follow them

        Good post!

The one program I got ripped off the most from has been Commission Junction. I was with two friends at different times that ordered through my website when I was there with them. Both were through Commission Junction for Bass Pro Shops products and I never got commission for either one.

When Bass Pro Shops ran their own affiliate program I was doing pretty good, once it moved to CJ, my sales went to 0.00...gee wonder why?

The people got their products but I never got the sale. CJ could have cared less, I sent them all the details and everything.

Great point Michael. Having worked as a sales rep for a number of years, I can't tell you how important it is to track this stuff! Most of the time there are honest errors and mistakes that get in the way, sometimes (especially in the sales world) it's more the company trying not to pay you... but that's a rant I'll save for another day! :-)

Thanks for reminding us how important it is to treat this like a business!

    - Mark.

    Hey Michael,

Thanks for pointing that out. I think a lot of internet marketers miss out on tons of money by not tracking their results.

This is really important to have in your mind, if you're an affiliate you should monitor all these activities so you don't get taken advantage of.

Don't take anything for granted. Thanks for the lesson

    Hey all,

I'm new to CJ but I did find it peculiar that I directed over 100 clicks to a particular offer that should be very high converting (pays on free account signup for women), and I've only had 1 convert. That's less than 1%! How can I tell if I'm getting cheated out of something? How can we figure this out? Thanks in advance for the responses!
