Will building a network of sites help SERP

I have a site on which I want to dominate SERP its a selling site and does very well selling physical products. Getting on page 1 for the 30 or so profitable search terms is my project

In building links to quality niche sites with a PR of say 3 or above it is very time consuming and sometimes you dont even get a response from the web site you apoach.

Buying links can be expensive and you dont always get what you pay for so

If you were to create say 50+ niche web sites and get them all to rank as PR3 and above ( not too hard to do ) then use them to Link back to the selling site would that work ?

assume that they are all on different C class IPs and if needed they could be hosted anywhere in the world and maybe they need the domains to be registered in different names ?

This would give say 50 + high quality links to a site selling widgets from other sites about widgets.

What do you think ?

A backlink is a backlink, so PR is awesome, but backlinks from sites with no PR will help too.

For some really good, very high PR backlinks (for cheap), go here:

You seem to be overcomplicating things in your link building efforts. You don't need to build 50 sites. Social bookmarking, article submissions, and directory submissions will often get you on the first page of Google for moderately competitive keywords.

To do this effectively, you would need to remove all possible evidence that these sites belong to a single owner, or else you are liable to be penalized or banned by Google. You would need to consider the following.

    1. Different Class C ip for each site.
    2. Scramble or make private your WHOIS info.
    3. Do not use Google Webmaster's tools
    4. Do not use a common adsense account
    5. Do not use a common design or template

    Here is more info here

Why Google May Ban You : Reasons For Google Banning Your Site

    "Mini-nets
This strategy involves interlinking multiple domains within a single ownership as a means to artificially inflate the PageRank of each interlinked page. Although this can be an effective way to boost search engine ranking, it also requires tremendous focus to make it work and can be very tricky to implement. If you link too aggressively between your sites or if you create an isolated node - an interconnected circle of sites devoid of incoming links from outside sources - Google is likely to eventually take notice and all of your sites could be penalized or banned. "

I think the conclusion must be that it is potentially very difficult and dangerous to implement a good inter-linking strategy. There are specialized "SEO hosting" services available that offers up 50 to 100 different Class C i.p addresses.

    Thanks
I sort of figured that so the confirmation is appreciated.
we are creating 50 sites which are required if only to use to exchange links with other Niche sites of similar PR
So our widget site on which we have zero outgoing links wants links from other widget sites So we are creating High Quality original content widget information sites to offer link exchanges from
We of course will monetise them as well
We have a lot of selling sites which are doing well but for example the site that is no 1 for a search phrase we want ( it gets zillions of searches) has 21,000 back links whilst we are at number 16 and have 1400 backlinks
Now we need only to number 4 or 5 to get a good result but I feel that the last 10+ spots will need high PR in niche quality links which seem very difficult to obtain.

Widgets site? But the links in widgets count? how do you implement the widgets?
if it is in Javascript then sorry search engine won't index them and therefore your link won't count.

A widget is a term used in sales and marketing to depict a hyperthetical product
It is used in training so in place of the actual product the term widget is used.
I dont know anyome who actually sells widgets or for that matter that any thing called a widget actualy exists.
It is also use in accountancy training once agian to depict a hyprthetical product held in stock
So I am not sure how this translates to javascript

Yes, you need to keep these seperate. Also, if these sites or blogs only linked back to your own 'money' site then it would look a bit dodgy. You would probably benefit more if you also linked to a couple of other sites with each one. It would look more organic and less likely setup specifically to increase your rankings.

You can also link a few of these up in a one way linking pattern. ie - 1 to 2, 2 to 3, 3 to 4... then 12 to 13, 13 to 14 etc. Don't do it with all of them, just a few groups of them.
