Is thre a membership site plug in/software that can do this?

Hey everyone

I'm struggling with finding appropriate membership site software for a membership site that I run.

Here's the skinny.

1. There are two types of information in the membership site - evergreen and a fresh PDF every week.

2. The PDF is like a weekly newsletter.

3. When people join the site I want them to get a username/password that will allow them to access the site (with stipulations below) with their username and password.

4. When they access the site they should be able to access all the evergreen content....and ONLY issues of the PDF newsletter from when they joined. (So for example if they join this week they will be at Issue 138).

5. If they want access to earlier issues of the PDF newsletter I need to have the facility to enable that for them in return for an additional payment.

6. I need to have the facility to enable current subscribers to be able to access the PDF newsletter from when they subscribed. So I would need to do that manually.

Hopefully that makes sense???

Is there anything out there that can do this. If I've not been clear please ask questions and I'll clarify!

    Hi,

I may not be an expert in creating membership sites and so on, but I do know that if I want something "customized", there is Elance?

      Hi Sherman

      Thanks for your response.

I'm hoping that i kind find something that does this 'oout of the box' and not have to get involved with hiring coders and the like.

Paul I think I understand what you're saying. And the only 2 scripts I know that may be able to handle this automatically is Delavo or Memberspeed.

        But you can always do this;

Remove the files monthly and set them up on a separate page for individual sale (for a small additional fee of course) when you add the new files.

But use a code/coupon for those who have been members that just want to download the files because the lost them/their computer crashed or whatever.

This could be managed through email each month or through a support desk.

If that doesn't make any sense it's because I ran out of coffee

Effectively I need to be able to drip feed content 'backwards.' DOes DAP do that? (I'm not sure, and will go check with them).

      Thanks for the suggestion.

    Paul,

(Sent this to you via email earlier, but posting it here for the benefit of the Warriors)

Yes, DAP can do all of this, including the "backwards dripping" that you asked about in your email (love that name btw! Should add it to our features list - "NEW: DAP does Backwards Dripping!" lol)

    >>I need to have the facility to enable current subscribers to be able to access the PDF newsletter from when they subscribed<<
For this, all you need to do is to make the dripping "date" on the PDF link, to be an actual date (like 05-01-2012), in which case only those who join on or after 05-01-2012 will be able to access the file, and not those who joined before. So you don't need to do this manually - DAP takes care of automating that for you.

    >>If they want access to earlier issues of the PDF newsletter I need to have the facility to enable that for them in return for an additional payment.<<
Every time you add the latest newsletter to drip via "date", you would also add it to a separate product, so that people can buy just that newsletter by itself.

Or to simplify things for yourself, you can just create one product called "Newsletter Archives" and add all PDF's to it (while also dripping it by date as part of your main product), and make this archives product as a recurring subscription product which people can pay a recurring fee for access.

At DAP, we call it the "Magazine Subscription" model (see link below):

      Hi ravi

Thanks for the email - I haven't had chance to reply yet - thought I'd reply here!

      Just to clarify something though:

">>I need to have the facility to enable current subscribers to be able to access the PDF newsletter from when they subscribed<<
For this, all you need to do is to make the dripping "date" on the PDF link, to be an actual date (like 05-01-2012), in which case only those who join on or after 05-01-2012 will be able to access the file, and not those who joined before. I actually need to do the opposite - so that people who joined say in 2011 have access to everything AFTER their join date.

      Does that make sense?

    >>I actually need to do the opposite - so that people who joined say in 2011 have access to everything AFTER their join date.<<

Yes, that's exactly how the magazine model works in DAP.

If you had set up a PDF to drip, say, on 03-01-2011, then those who join on or after that date, will get access to that PDF, and anything else whose drip "date" is set to a date after they've joined.

I think we might be saying the same thing differently. But if I have missed your point, please elaborate with an example.

    Thanks,

We were looking for a membership software to replace the aging Butterfly Marketing Script that we had been using for a while. After reading a bunch of reviews, we were more unsure than before. Every person is different and a feature that one person really values is totally irrelevant to another person.

We finally decided to do a more thorough comparison ourselves.

We made a list of features that is pretty exhaustive and then compared 20 different membership software. The resulting report is too big to fit on such a forum but you are most welcome to download it from our website.

It is listed as 'Membership Software Review and Comparison'. Posting a link to your site is frowned upon here so search for it on our site or Google it.

The best part of doing the review ourselves was that we discovered features that we didn't even know existed or didn't know could help us. Shall we say we spent a few valuable days to get ourselves educated.

I hope you find one that suits you best.

      Good Luck!

    Hi Bloggerkhan,

Just an FYI to you and anyone else who's using the Butterfly Marketing Script, and wants to upgrade to something that works with WordPress, or you're just looking for more power for your membership site...

Mike Filsaime, the creator of the Butterfly Marketing Script (and also a very good friend) himself recommends DigitalAccessPass (DAP). We've proudly displayed his testimonial on our home page, if you wish to check it out.

    Cheers!

Hey Paul, thanks for your thread - I had a lot of similar questions initially, which have now been answered by everyone here, so thanks again.

I have 2 questions for Ravi if you don't mind.

    Ravi,

With DAP, could someone set up three memberships: let's say Free, Standard, and Advanced, with Standard and Advanced having the content dripping features (from the date of the member subscribing onwards), and have Free and Standard be the only options available to choose on the home page - then redirecting members to 2 slightly different OTOs for the Advanced membership upgrade?

If so, can the upgraded membership replace those two options if the members decide to upgrade (i.e. automatically delete the free account and only pay for the Advanced, or delete the Standard account and no longer pay say $9.99 a month, but instead pay $29.99 a month?

I am worried that I'd need to charge the person twice - $9.99 and $20 a month to get to the original Advanced payment option of $29.99 a month, which could get a bit tedious.

Thanks in advance for your response.

      Yes, you can.

Yes and no. It can be done, and the DAP part is automatic (moving them from one level to another), but the modification of subscription is not automatic though. You would have to ask the member to re-subscribe to the new membership/level, and then you would cancel their old one in your merchant back-office (like Paypal or Authorize.net).

Wishlist has the same type of setup inside their own members area. Each month they give away a bonus plugin and you only have access to the plugins that were made available during the months you were a paid member.

Look into their software, I'd imagine this is available since they use it in their site.

Another question for Ravi as I have been looking at DAP a lot over recent days.

I can see on the feature list that you can import a CSV list of members into DAP from somewhere else, but two questions: -

      1. Can you also export to a CSV list from DAP
      2. Is there an API I could use to bring each member into another database and if so is this available for all license types?

If you want every new member to also be added to another database at the same time they're created in DAP, then yes, you can write your own custom DAP plugin to do this.

        See http://DigitalAccessPass.com/documen...gin-framework/

If you're not a coder, our team can custom develop this for you.

        >>and if so is this available for all license types?<<
        Yes.
