Youtube music video promotion

I manage an artist and we're preparing to release a youtube music video. I'm wondering if anyone has ideas on how to promote the video as to get views but more importantly, subscribers. We have a list of relevant blogs to whom we will submit the video. We are registered in many relevant forums. Of course, we have the facebook and twitter accounts to promote also. We are also using tubetoolbox. This has given us decent results on a current video we have but not like we'd like. There are other artists who have had great success and their music is decent and the video is nothing special but they constantly get 100's of thousands of views on all videos with comments and many subscribers. I know there's a major piece that we're missing. Any ideas????

I would suggest you have to deliver a quality product, viral music videos usually depend on quality and word of mouth.

I know thats not the answer your looking for and you want a quick sure way to get famous but its about quality.

There are many quality paid services you can use that will generate subscribers, views, comments, likes or favorites to your videos/channel. Services like this are good to kind of "prime the pump" for the viral sharing to begin. Plus, videos with lots of views, and channels with lots of subs, will always be more appealing to those just finding your content.

    Hope that helps!

Promote it before the video comes out with a behind the scenes video/making of/etc.
    Buy ads for it.
Throw a contest - incorporating FB - to see how many fans the video gets. (Speed things up with ads)
Throw a drawing, winner get's their name/picture somewhere in the video. (Again, ads can help)
Post it on all the forums.
Make one hell of a good video.

I understand that it must be quality as far as content is concerned but I think it's like Stephen said we need to prime the pump. I will look into buying an ad. I checked that briefly in the past and it seemed as though I the money spent wouldn't bring the results.

My advice would be to share the video with a taste-maker that has a popular blog and/or large social network following (twitter,Facebook, etc). A lot of videos go viral because someone with a large following shares that video with their followers. In the video make some annotations that tells the viewers to "like" and "share" the video. Good luck man. If you would like, contact me i'd like to help out more.

Reach out to Radio Stations that play that type of song. See if you can set-up some phone interviews with them and try to get the video linked on their websites or even embedded.

The artist should start their own video blog on youtube, include behind the scene stuff and personal stuff about the artist.

Also do musical collabos with other youtube artists

I strongly believe that luck is a huge factor in determining whether a quality video goes viral or not. I would strongly suggest you create pre-launch hype on your Facebook pages, and mention it on the forums you are a part of as well, in a non-spammy way.

Get people excited about the video before it is released, and once it is released, post it around Facebook on relevant pages where you think people would be interested. Again, I'm not saying you should spam the whole of FB or any forum, but only add the video to places where people would actually appreciate it.

Besides that, keep comments open and reply to them. You can also comment on similar types of videos to get reciprocation from other YouTube channel owners, and others who may see your insightful comments and get convinced to pay your channel a visit.

    Good luck!

You'll only get OK results like that, nothing that will make a difference in youtube internal ratings.

This was perhaps the case before one could purchase youtube views, but today, there's a whole nother game being played. A little known secret is that all major records label purchase overnight views in the hundreds of thousands when they're trying to break new artists. This lands them on youtube's front page, which provides an audience of hundreds of thousands of eyes on the video, giving it every chance in the world to go viral if it's a great video.

Conclusion: You can leave it to chance and promote it traditionally, or you can re-upload the video and purchase a few hundred thousand overnight views, to get it on the front page of youtube. This is perfectly safe to do, as long as you purchase real, human views.

The reason you have to re-upload it is that a video only gets one shot at youtube's front page, and that is in its first 48 hours of release. After that, it's game over.

I like the idea of purchasing views to get on the front page but I'm torn because other artist who are on the same level as my artist will know the numbers are fake and will look at him as fake. Of course, if we buy the views get on the front page and then the thing goes viral, it'll be all good.

Worry less about what other artists think about him and more about getting him to become successful. Remember, once those initial views have kicked in, there is an instant audience of thousands that will be watching, rating and commenting on the video. And that's very real.

There is nothing shameful about purchasing views. It's not even cheating anymore, it has become a necessity to keep up with all the other artists who are doing it. If you start watching youtubes's most popular videos on their homepage every day, you'll be surprised at how many of them clearly are artificially boosted.
