Content and Article Writing - how to start out
As you can see, I am new here, so firstly, I apologise about this thread - it must have been covered in the past several times, but not exactly the same as what I am saying. Basically, I live in Hungary, as my username suggests. Jobs here are hard to come by. I finally decided to take the plunge and start working for myself online. As I should be a journalist or writer, I thought I would start writing content and articles. So I signed up to oDesk and have written a few articles on there. The problem is too many ridiculously cheap writers that people hire, and a US bias for those looking for something a bit more expensive on there.
Now, I have no doubt about my ability to write. I have had positive feedback on what I have done. What I do worry about is the market position I should look to occupy. My original idea, after looking around, was to offer cheap, high quality content. As far as I could see, there was a gap for native speaker writers working for a small price. But after reading some threads on here, it seems aiming at this market may not be the best idea. So, where would you position yourself if you were me? A writing graduate, native English speaker, without a lot of experience.
My newer pricing idea is still cheap, starting at $0.02/word, up to $0.11. Is this too little, or too big a difference in pricing? Should I offer by per word or per article or per 300/500/etc, words?
Lastly, I would like to get hold of a domain, but it is owned by a Korean guy. I decided to enquire about it - he gets 140 hits a day from misspells and doesn't rank anywhere on google, bing, yahoo, etc. I used my real name, which may be a problem - it is Tom Smith - so he may think I'm not a nobody. But he asked for $25,000. How much would you pay for a one word .com domain? Should I just purchase a different one and go back if my business takes off?
Anyway, thank you for your tips, any of them, I appreciate it, and hopefully I'll be able to reciprocate the advice in the future

Cheers, Laurence.
