What makes Internet Marketing Interesting?

Internet marketing is never boring although I am not making much out of it. This is because of the fact that it opens more avenues for deep learning. I always feel that Internet marketing and SEO go together. Driving organic traffic to your website is the order of the day. What do you feel? Do you support paid traffic like say PPC?

Definitely organic traffic > paid traffic in my book. To be honest, I've never had a situation where the traffic wasn't enough from my SEO efforts so I resorted to paid traffic.

I also agree that organic traffic is better than paid traffic but, I don't use ppc anymore because in my experience anyone who goes to your site to get a few cents does not want to stay for a while and read. All they want to do is be on your site for the least amount of time they have to and then go on to the next site.

I only support paid ads through sites like AdHitz.

Sorry, I had to pull up this post since it represents a complete misunderstanding of what PPC is. I think you're getting it confused with 'paid surfing' networks, rather than Pay Per Click advertising networks such as Google Adwords or Adbrite.

To the OP- the interesting thing about Internet Marketing, for me anyway, is that you can literally go wherever you want to. You can achieve as much or as little as you like, the only thing limiting you is your own imagination, ambition, ability and desire to put in the work neccesary succeed.

I agree wholeheartedly. For one thing, organic is always better and Google is starting to tell the difference, and I too have never been desperate enough for paid traffic. It just never seemed to be worth it in terms of ROI for me.

Again, I'm a bit confused here. Paid traffic is where Google make their money, so if there is any implication here that paid traffic can somehow harm a site, it is completely false.

All the money I've made online were from organic traffic. With ppc (it doesn't matter if you say Google, Facebook, PoF, BidVeiser or 7 search) were only wasted money...

Paid traffic gives you immediate results and you are able to test offers, sites, landing pages, squeeze pages very effectively. If you spend a lot of time getting organic traffic, you don't yet know if the site even converts well.
If you test and optimize properly, you can make a lot of money with paid traffic. And quickly, since you don't have to wait for SEO to kick in.
There are people earning 100k a day with paid traffic.

Yes, I read somewhere on the Internet that there are many IMers that are making profits through PPC method of advertising. The secret consists in the keyword selection and right kind of bidding I suppose. A tutorial would help our cause a great deal!

The most interesting things in IM like you said , is the incredible amount of new things you can learn every day, the second thing is that you have no limits. You can earn 0,20$ and you can earn 20.000.000$ , it really depends on how you approach the first interesting thing

SEO, PPC or any other traffic generating system just depends on the niche, your site and your ability to use it correctly. I wouldn't say something is better than the other, its just different. Use the appropriate system that works the best for your project, but make sure to learn about it first.

    best regards,

Paid traffic on Facebook is by far one of the best traffic generation methods available right now. If it were me, I would want to mix in a little of everything - SEO, PPC, Solo Ads, JVs, etc. A solid business model, with the right balance of those, can see a lot of success online.

Pay per click method of advertising is still the darling of many Internet marketers worldwide. The two important reasons for its popularity are (a) it delivers quick results and (b) it allows you to compete with others in a healthy manner.

Well.. one can see it from a philosophical view too.
If you go for payed traffic might be concidered not believing in yourself. Because you have to pay to get payed. But the person doing the SEO totally with no investment at all "time is not included" and you start seeing results, I believe it makes a difference.

Believe in yourself. Start small and grow big.

I totally support PAID advertising because I know that it works. Not a lot of people use it these days because they either tried and failed or are just too lazy to learn it. You learn a lot from making mistakes.

I call PPC advertising the cream of the crop. I will always use it.

Paid traffic is great if you have the revenue to test. It is sooo much faster to test a product. But, I prefer organic, it doesn't cost me anything and if I work fast, I can generate a lot of content and then see what converts. All a matter of personal preference, but paid is definitely the faster way to go. Be careful, though. You can burn through money in just a few hours, so keep a close eye on it.

Organic traffic from search engines like Google and Yahoo is definitely the best. However, if you know how to play around with paid traffic, you can get 1000s of targeted visitors to your site in a very short time.

    Watch out for Facebook ads!

I believe you have to run the numbers. If the ROI is good, then paid for traffic is worth it and could take a business 10x its current income. However, those who use PPC or PPV like the roulette wheel and don't really know in advance the probable ROI may loose big time. Free Traffic has no risk, and has less reward.

There are a number of things that make internet marketing interesting:

There is no end to the extent of knowledge you can attain

No two days of work are the same in this field

You can work from wherever you want, in whatever crazy outfit you want

There is a lot of earning potential

In a lot of cases, you get to interact with people from all over the world

As someone who works in SEO, I strongly believe that paid traffic is rarely ever the solution. I understand why some people would do it, but it is definitely not the best option. Organic search engine traffic pays off in the long run. SEO might be a rigorous process for many, but it is an ideal way to make sure targeted traffic constantly comes to your website without a lot of constant investment. Paid traffic can be effective in certain cases, but why pay for something that you can have for free (with maybe a small initial investment)?

The exact opposite, I'm afraid - and pretty strongly.

As so many Warriors have discovered, many of them to their very great cost, over the last year or so, a business which is dependent on Google for its primary traffic is only ever going to be one algorithm-change away from a potential accident - even from a potential disaster.

SEO-derived traffic is not only one of the least secure and reliable kinds of traffic on which to base a business, but many of us also find that it's comparatively poor quality traffic, too, with lower opt-in and conversion rates for us than most other kinds of traffic.

Personally, I'm an article marketer, so I attract floods of highly targeted traffic without depending on search engine traffic at all. However, I do still get about 20% of my traffic from search engines, just because one of the side benefits of article syndication is that you get your backlinks on some highly relevant sites, where the linkjuice value happens to be particularly high. So I haven't managed to avoid SEO traffic altogether, but I don't mind that. To be honest, even just the 20% of search engine traffic I get now is still more in quantity than I ever got when I was aiming specifically at SEO-traffic as a way to build my business.

I have a little experience with PPC traffic as well (and will try more, one day), and I know this can be very valuable and viable to people who have the appropriate skill-set with it, and have completed its learning curve. (Of course, not all PPC traffic comes from search engines, anyway).

But in general, anything that avoids dependence on SEO, for producing targeted traffic, can only be beneficial, in the long run, for a secure business.

In my business about 1/4 of my daily traffic which was about 250 unique visitors I was getting from organic search, mostly from Google. I was getting also 50 direct visits and 50 referral visits. The rest, about 650 visitors I was buying from Google's AdWords.
According to my statistics the PPC traffic was converting twice better than organic search traffic.

The thing that makes Internet marketing interesting for me is, it is a business with no boundaries. A borderless business.

You know, I own an offline business here, a pharmacy and a computer shop (internet cafe) and I sometimes experience lean days where very few customers are coming in. My offline business is severely dependent on its location and how I wish I could uproot its building and move it to a new location where new customers can be found, and move it again to a new location when customers flow dries up.

In Internet marketing, with the global reach of the Internet, your market is bigger and you can reach people from anywhere in the world!
