How to redirect a link to an Amazon Affiliate link

Hey everyone,

I have a quick question I'm hoping someone can help me with. Today i came across a link like below:

example (dot) com/viewdetail.php?asin=B033AE33TU

But when i clicked it i was redirect to:

amazon (dot) com/gp/product/B033AE33TU/?tag=selling-26

I wonder if anyone can give me a hint how to do that ? Please help me out.

Thanks.

I don't really understand but you can do link redirects with a free plugin called pretty links. Pretty much works for 301 redirects like the above.

Second Pretty Link, which comes in a free and paid version (I use the free, has all the functionality I need).

Also, there is a similar plug-in called Go Codes, which I initially used for my Amazon affiliate links, but I've migrated to Pretty Link on all my sites.

My guess is that there was some kind of redirect code on the page.

All you have to do is include this snippet of code between the <head> tags on your webpage and it will redirect the link to the desired location:

    <meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html">

    Hope this helps

A definite newbie to this forum so apologies in advance if my own related query has been answered / covered before now (I did search the Forum.. but this thread was the closest I got to my own query).

Basically all (for now) that I want to know is if 301 Redirects in an .htaccess file as:

    a) Permitted on the Amazon (UK and USA) Associates schemes?

    and..

    b) If such a technique actually *works* (i.e. earns commission!).

Thanks for any clarification on this. I tried the Amazon board(s) too but didn't get anywhere - and don't want to risk jeopardising my account status inadvertently.

    Thanks, John.

PS - as a New User here I was not permitted to include any demo urls on my first post (which is fine/understood) - but just to confirm, I have added some 301 Redirects of this nature and they seem to work fine (i.e. you end up on the correct Amazon page, complete with tag= tracking info..

.. but will Amazon pay out commissions on 301 links of this nature?

      Thanks, John.

Well, some people do it by creating a private page then downloading the page links to plugin for wordpress, then putting the link on that page.

So when you click it, it will look like example.com/product

When its really redirecting to example.com/user/ref
