eBook, give away for free or sell it?

I am currently working on an eBook which will not only appeal to the Gambling Niche but also anyone who wants to make some reasonably quick, easy money. It is applicable mainly to the UK although I am goibg to check what the situation is in the US regarding betting with bookmakers. It will also be useful for Australian residents.

The eBook details a method that anyone in the UK can use to rapidly make £1000 - £3000 risk free. It's not a method of obtaining long term riches as, once you get to the £1000 - £3000 mark things slow down (i.e. you can only really do it once). Although it is a one off, it is still worth doing!

The information is available on the internet but with information all over the place it is not easy to implement. My eBook organises the information and explains the method in detail.

I am considering two options for this eBook. The first, of course, is to sell it. The second, which I am seriously considering, is to give it away free, and I have an idea of how I could do this to build an email list.

Any opinions on these two options?

I think that whether you decide to give it away for free or sell it depends on the length and detail of the eBook.

If this is simply a short 20 page report then I would say by all means give it away and use it to build your list, stick in some affiliate links, etc. But if this is a very long detailed eBook you might be better off selling it to make the most profit. Maybe set up an affiliate program too.

    Hello!

Well I guess that would depend on a couple of things. Giving it away would be a great way to help build your list. My main question would be do you have another product related to gambling that you could use as a back end product?

If you do then you could kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak. You could give it away to help build your list, and have links inside to your back end product which you could sell and generate some income.

If the product does what you say it, you will go a long way towards building trust with your new customers and they will be much more likely to consider purchasing your back end product.

If this is the only product you have my next question would be, do you plan on doing additional products in this same market? If not then I don't think the list building will be of much assistance to you as you are going to have a market audience targeted to gambling and no additional products or services for them to purchase. In that case then I would probably have to recommend selling the product as a one time income generator.

    Just my 2 cents....
    Good Luck!

      Hi

Good points. Before you guys commented I was swaying towards giving it away for free. But I don't actually have a back end product to sell from it, and originally I wasn't planning on targetting the gambling Niche, as I am not a massive fan of "betting systems" and similiar.

I am now thinking it may be better to sell it through an affiliate program. The product is different from the normal gambling market. It does involve betting, but it is exploiting a loophole which guarantees you make the money. As I said, you can only do it once though!

Click on the link in my siggie. I have a site where I am GIVING away my ebook that I wrote myself. It is about 48 pages, and full of valuable information.

I only say that to make my point.

Everybody and their mother is out there selling ebooks. It is time to shake things upside down! People can read my ebook and never look back. They may never click on the affiliate links that are in the book. (BTW: I actually TELL them in the ebook that the affiliate links are how I make money!)

I am being so honest with them, if they want to stick around and be a part of my site - Great! If they don't - I am not looking for that type of person anyway.

I have a page on my site called, "Ask Growing Entrepreneur". This is where people can send me their questions and I will give them advice on how to solve their issue in a creative way. For NOW, it is free. This is how I am going to make my money... in a few months, when people can see the value in it, I am going to make that page a paid membership forum. (And, yes, I do tell people that!)

My whole plan is to gain people's trust and do business like that.

For you - you really could do the same thing, and have your paid membership area filled with the updated tips and tricks, deals going on for Vegas vacations (which you are an affiliate with), and interesting tidbits that most people don't know.

I guess what I am saying is not to be afraid to do something different. Think creatively. While you don't need to re-invent the wheel, it is perfectly fine to do things different from everybody else.

        Good luck!

You really caught my attention with this 2nd post. The part that stood out to me...

You need to ask yourself is that what you really want to associate your name with, including affiliate promotions. You have to remember your name will be associated with this product, by everyone on your list.

I also suspect because you're not "hot" about this niche, you will be very luke warm about trying to build a business within this niche. Please notice I said business. To be successful even with affiliate products you will have to promote them to your list. This of course means using different ways of promotion. Are you prepared to dedicate yourself to doing what is necessary to make your affiliate "betting products" a success.

If your not why waste your time or is this your "one off to make quick money" from the gambling niche.

Please understand I'm not trying to discourage you nor am I being critical. I'm just trying to get you to think long term instead of short term with your business.

One plan of action you may consider, is to do a WSO and offer PLR with Resell rights or even Master Resell Rights. You will build a list of Warriors which could take your business to a growing monthly income.

I just had a "brain fart" sounds like you could also market it in offline classified ads in the U.K. You know the ones I'm talking about. Send them to your site for purchase and download.

Better yet put it on a DVD and sale at higher price.

Well now that I've smelled up the place, I'm out of here. :p

Your taking action my friend and that is the name of the game. Just think it through how your going to take this project into one that can make you money, not only short term but long term.

          Thanks Ken

You're probably right about me being Lukewarm about that particular Niche. I am a person who likes to over deliver. Without wanting to speak out of turn I don't think there are many products in the gambling Niche that "over deliver".

With this in mind, as you say, it may be my "one off" in this Niche, as it just so happens that I know how to exploit a particular loophole and can explain it well in an eBook.

With this in mind, does anyone have any opinions on pricing? What would you sell an eBook for which if the reader applies the system, it will make them at least £1000 in just over a month?

Is your market "Desperate For This Information". Also does this book apply to the '"average joe bettor" or the "addicted systems bettor".

If it's the average joe go for volume sales and keep your price under $20.00. (sorry don't know the exchange rate).

If it's the addicted systems guy, kick the price up but still price it for volume sales. Especially since this is a one time system that will work for them.

You should perhaps research the "betting system niche" and see what the current info is selling for in the U.K.

I'm pretty sure that I know the general concept you're running with on this one as me and my girlfriend had thought about doing it when we were back in the UK.

I would recommend packaging it as PLR ebook if you are thinking of giving it away or selling it on here as I think it will be useful to more people that way.

I also think that people who are familiar with basic IM techniques would not need a whole ebook to understand the idea - more likely, just a couple of sentences.

Maybe sell the public the same PLR ebook (in detail) that you give away on here?

    Hi,

I think that you should sell it, wouldn't that be more profitable to you? & this might add value too!!
