Need List Building Help

I have a couple of email lists that I am starting to grow and I need help with a couple of issues. If anyone could could give me the answers or point me to where I can find the answers, I would greatly appreciate it.
1) I have seen at least a dozen times in many threads that you need to set up your auto reponder to segment the list into a buyers list and a "freebie" list. Unfortunately, no one ever says how you do that. So, Could someone tell me how to segment that list?
2) I have several products that I would like to give away or sell. Could someone tell me how (or where to find the information on) I go about making these products available. I am just guessing but I imagine I would need some sort of shopping cart for the product I sell but where do I place the product (pdf ebook or video product) so that people can download it (same question for the free product).

Thanks

    Hello,

I am new to this list building malarky myself, so understand the confusion!

I can answer number 2.), probably.

The vast majority of the time, the sort of products / services people sell are through an affiliate program like ClickBank. The best thing for you to do, is to generate your hoplink (ask if you don't know what that is), then in your sequence of e-mails, briefly pre-sell the product to your list, and include a link to the vendor's sales page, via your hoplink. The vendor will have a ready made sales page, and you'll just receive a commission each time someone buys something.

If the products you want to sell aren't through CB, then see if the vendor has an affiliate program, and the process will be very similar.

Hope that helps. Ask away if you need clarification.

I asked this same question not long ago and did not really get many answers. Hope you get better ones than me! I have just decided to enter them by hand, into a new list. The only problem is I may not always know who bought if several people visited clickbank from my list around the same time (but I only wish I had that problem.)

As for the free product you would not need anything like this. Just offer the free product in return for their email address. Once they have signed up to your list, your first email will have a link that they click on that allows them to download the pdf file. As for the paid product, I have not ever sold anything directly off my site, but I am sure there is an easy way to do this using pay-pal. Hopefully someone can give you a good answer about that. Good luck.

That is my question with regard to the free product. If I give them the link, where does that link take them? I have my own product (or will once I have finished refining it). I want to know where (or how) I put my pdf document/ebook so that it can be downloaded. Does it somehow get put on the c panel of my webhost or is it hosted somewhere else or how do I put it out there so it can be accessed (and not only accessed by the person who subscribed to my list but restricted from access to those just wandering the web).

Not sure the proper way to do it, but what I did was "Add New Media", this is in wordpress. If you are working in something else, then I have no clue . Then I just found the file in my documents. Once it was added it had an http address. On the first email my viewers recieve I have a pic of the free ebook. I just added the http address as the link with the book. That way they just click on the pic of the book and it takes them to the pdf. Hope this made sense, let me know if it didn't and I will try to explain better.

For the free product that you are offering to get subscribers, there are different ways to do this. You can set it up in your autoresponder to email it directly to your subscribers as an attachment - although personally I wouldn't recommend this, as I think people are very wary of opening attachments on emails in case they have a virus.

Or you can upload the freebie to your server, and then just send the download link to your subscribers. You do this using an ftp manager, or in your webhost cpanel. So if you were giving a pdf report called abc.pdf, you would upload this to your site, so the link would be http://www.mysite.com/abc.pdf

Probably the best way is to create a download page with this link on it, then send your subscribers to this page for their free report, rather than straight to the pdf - this way you can show other offers as well for related paid products that they might be interested in, and generate some sales right away.

You could probably find videos through your autoresponder that teach you how to segment lists. As for product delivery, it depends on who's product it is. If you are an affiliate then you will have a hoplink (affiliate link) so that commission will go through to you. If it's your product that is a different story. You need to set up a payment processor. There is a lot of software that can help you do this on unlimited sites. Hope this helps

Selling via digiresults of JVZoo is really simple, you enter the salespage url and they give you the code to accept payment.

Uploading pdf's and creating download pages is also super simple, and you've inspired me to create a new gig on fiverr specifically for people like yourself. You shouldn't be struggling just because you can't upload a pdf or add the aweber button.

It's better to pay and get it done than spend ages trying to find the solution for free amongst all the search results.
