How Much Do You Charge For SEO and IM Work?

I was hoping to get some thoughts on this since offering SEO/IM services isn't my background. I've done IM for close to 10 years on my own so very comfortable with it but haven't actually offered my services to someone else.

I design sites for customers and in this case the client asked if I'd be interested in offering SEO services for them. I wouldn't have any trouble with their industry so I'm considering helping them out but I also don't want to sell myself short since I feel I have a good amount of experience to share with them.

If you offer services do you typically charge a monthly or hourly rate? Or do you charge based on performance/results? Backlinking strategies, articles, social networking, partnerships with sites etc..I'm not necessarily looking for you charge but more of a general idea for the industry.

Thanks for your thoughts

For me, I will charged them based on monthly and performance, for the example if the customer website is in the page one in this month, then they have to pay me at the end of the month, but if not in the page one, they do not need to pay me

SEO's are charging starting from $500 to $1000 per 10 keywords per month - some SEO's charge even higher than $1000 for 10 keywords per month. I charge $500 per month per 10 keywords for SEO.

I'm thinking of coming in having a base price of $200 per 5 keywords per month and once the keywords hit positions 1-3 you pay half of the fee per month to retain it.

I don't offer "SEO" work other than the initial on-page as a part of the website setup. However, what ever work I do I do for a flat fee of $100 / hour, be it web development, Social media, marketing campaigns, copywriting etc.

I also have a number of clients on a $100 / month 'Q & A' service where i am available to them to answer questions, concerns etc.

Hope that helps, it's another point of view. I've been charging the same rate since 2005.

It's Simple... I don't "sell" IM anymore, but still do lots of YouTube Videos
