Spinning Articles vs Outsourcing Articles

I'm really undecided about how to start IM. I know/think article marketing is the backbone for traffic but I still have to decide whether I want to buy PLR content and spin it or have someone write a bunch of articles for me. I tried Jetspinner and achieved around 50% uniqueness for the various spun articles.
This doesn't seem sufficient and wondered if a writer is not the best way to go. The obvious con here is that 10 articles will cost roughly $50 which is expensive for me as I'm from South Africa and spinning 10 articles will cost roughly 2 hours of my time...

The answer is really obvios, outsource!

You can't get high quality articles from spinning articles. Always write them yourself or outsource someone to do it for you if you don't have the time. Producing fresh content for the web is loving it, and as far as I know when you love the web, the web will love you back X10 times.

Hope you understand what I mean.

Rewriting PLR content is a good way to go, you can spin them and add to them yourself. It might take a little more time than software, but you'll get faster at it the more you do it.

If you don't want to spend any money..just write the content yourself. It may seem a little daunting at first, but again the more you write the better you will become over time.

Article marketing is important, but I wouldn't say it's the "backbone" of traffic. The backbone of traffic is fresh quality content.

    Hi Dragone,

And welcome to the Warrior Forum.

In the long term, an article spinner IMHO would be the
best way to go. I've not used Jet Spinner myself, but I
do have considerable experience in using article spinners.
Some great, but the vast majority were crap.

Without knowing exactly how you work with JS, I can only
    offer some general advice.

It sounds to me like you've not added enough content to
your JS variables, so it has less to work with. I would be
inclined to add at least four variables were possible.

If your article is keyword related, are there other
keywords that can be dropped in place, and the article
still make sense? That being the case, I'd use a keyword
place marker, something like %keyword%, %keywordcaps%.
Then spin the article, and use a search and replace in your
text editor to replace the marker with your keyword. JS
might have this keyword function built in, so my comment
    here is mute.

It goes without saying GIGO. Garbage In, Garbage Out.

    Dragone,

It's a trade-off. You either spend time or money to do article markting. If you like to write, and are good at it, then by all means write/spin them yourself. If you're not that good of a writer, consider finding a good source to have them written for you.

The benefit to a quality outsource is just that, quality. Someone who has been writing for a long time already has the skills to produce high-quality, keyword rich articles. You may need to get more then one source for comparison shopping or if you are working different markets.

In the long run you have to decide which way you go based on the money you have to spend. No money means you get writing and then outsource as you earn more.

    Dragone,

The fact that you're asking how you should start your IM (either through outsourced writers or article spinner) only goes to show how much effort you're putting into it. For that, you have my admiration.

You know, I used to think about that question as well. So what I did (and what I'm suggesting you to do) is to test out both methods. 1 year back, I hired a ghostwriter to write my articles at $5 each. The grammar was fine but the content was only so-so.

And although I had lots of unique content, I had very few real visitors. So maybe your real question is how you could provide quality content for your visitors and the search engines?

Anyway, I've tested using article spinners and I feel more in control of the output. So my take? Article spinner, period.

    Hope that helps!

Writing your own is great if you are happy to do that and good at it too.

Getting someone else to do it leaves you free to get on with other things and can bring in fresh ideas and themes on articles.

So question, when you are "spinning" an article, does that mean the person who originally wrote the article does not have copyright protection from "spinners"?

I agree with Glenn. When using any spinner or article creation tool, you should aim to add a number of variations where possible. This will create a kind of spikey line when graphed and the likelyhood of you getting chunks of content that is the same as other articles you produce, is slim.

Also, don;t just replace single words like great with replacements like good, fantastic and brilliant etc. You need to replace phrases. ie - 3 - 4 words with another string of words spoken in a different context.

I am creating and buying alot of content at this time.
I have been reading this forum paying attention to the diffrenet sides of the discussion regarding spun content. I have also read many other forums and articles from web based news services and I Have com to a VERY STRONG conclusion that content needs to be 100% original.
If you use copyscape to check your content it gives an answer very quickly and may help to determine the originality of your article.
IF Copyscape can do this in seconds then IMHO Google will also be checking.
Whilst the Jury is possibly still out on this argument it is witout a doubt the safest way to go by taking a position of 100% original content.
I ma currently developing a large number of web sites and whilst it would be cheaper and quicker to use spun content in my opinion the risk that most of that work would be worthless is too big a chance to take.
I reccomend 100% original content all day every day

If you want medicore results, then use a medicore tool--an article spinner. If you want spectacular results, then use a spectacular tool--your brain (or rent someone else's brain).

Here is the problem as I see it. There are a lot of medicore articles in hopes of attracting a load of visitors. The true purpose of an article is to attract the search engines and push your page rank as close to the top as possible. Sure, you can toss a ton of cheap tricks overboard and hope a few float, but in time they are all going to sink out of sight.

IMHO what is more important is to focus on the end user (I'm assuming you expect your web site to expand with age and not be a flash-in-the-pan.) So, the question is what does your user want? Answer that question with a well fashioned series of articles and users will find your site useful and in turn attract in-bound links, which means an increase in page rank. Throw a bunch of crap up on your site and the results will be crap--assuming that you want your site to be more than flash that quickly flickers out.

I Also useJetspinner for spinning content but also found it too time consuming.

They do offer a service call human spinner which I've found to be very cost affective.

I pay $6 for a 350-400 word article from , then have It spun by human spinner.

The way in which human spinner works is the content gets split into sentences and a Human will re-write each line of the content.

    Cost About $3 per variation.

So with 3 variations you will have 4 unique articles at the cost of $3.75 An article.

Here's an example of one of the articles written by My Article Writer.

If this is all the 'human' spinner does, then why not buy something like Brad Callens Article Spinner, or Power Article Re-writer and spend an hour or so doing this exact same thing yourself. You could get LOADS more articles for your $3.75 per article.

    Hi Gang!

I've been reading this thread with much fascination.
My own take on this is a bit middle of the road. USE YOUR BRAIN (or someone elses) is first and foremost the most potent tool you/we have. Writing one good article does take time and the result can be very rewarding, but then I also believe that one of the keys to IM success is automation and using (good to excellent) technology in any way shape or form is a boon but its got to be said there is a lot of crap content spinners out. They output such jibberish is worth a laugh. Thats me 10 cents.

(Glenn looked at your website your software looks very interesting - are you offering a WSO?)

Heres how I've been doing it.
In the last 15 days I've written 38.
2 articles per day at approx 250 words.
I usually aim for at least 250 but sometimes
    it stretches to 300 words.

My plan is to write enough articles which will
help me build my list, when the list is paying
well I will then outsource from WSO section.
Theres this guy doing 100 fresh articles for $300.
Article marketing is the way to go, you get some
guys on ezinearticles with combined view of 500k
saying that he does have 10,000 articles.

Im exhausting my knowledge of internet marketing
into my articles as it's easier to write cause I know it.
When I get writers block I will get some PLR to rewrite,
piss easy. When I run out of PLR to re write then I will
    outsource.

    Good luck

At the end of the day. If you are wanting VARIOUS different articles for your own website, then I guess a content writer would be better. If you are just wanting to submit to article directories, Squidoo etc then an article creator of some kind. This isn't referring to the quality of the articles, as the quality from a professional spun article is just the same as the original.

People who referr to gibberish content from spinners are literally referring to the OLD type of paste and spin. Proper spinners where you have to prgramme it yourself, does not produce gibberish if you do it right. AND it ain't hard to do!

Quite a mixed bunch of opinions. I'm tempted to purchase a WSO of PLR articles for $27 and then just spin it and see how that goes If it doesn't go well then I've still got useful information on hundreds of niches and I can either write my own or preferably outsource.

I will keep you informed at how it goes.

Great posts so far, I think that if you don't want to spend any money just write the content yourself since it's very hard to find good and high quality cheap writers... Generally speaking the more you write the better you will become over time. If you layout your articles in template form of some kind at first, (get some ideas from existing articles on your topic) and then write your own content in the same structure, this elimiates a lot of the work. Article marketing is denfinitely important, but I wouldn't say it's your sole source of traffic. Always ensure that there is quality content in all of your articles. Hope this helps!

Picture it! The year is 2025 and there is so much crappy content online that no one even bothers to use the Internet any longer. Why? Because people used article spinners and put loads of garbage online. Now there isn't anything worthwhile to read!

The truth, however, is that by the year 2025, search engine technology will likely have advanced to the point that all that crappy content will no longer be indexed and all the work of all those people spinning that crappy content will have been wasted time. At least that is my hope.

Article marketing is only one way of obtaining backlinks to your site. And, by providing your site with backlinks from high PR websites, you'll gain more credibility (higher SE ranking) with a lot less work.

So, I hope that you are providing quality content to high PR websites. Putting spun articles on hundreds or even thousands of low or 0 PR web sites, won't get you very far for very long.

One of the things I'm doing is to use Angela Edwards monthly backlink package. You can search for her here on the Warrior Forum but I don't have her direct website address handy. Each month for a very small fee, she provides you with a list of 30 high PR sites you can get backlinks from. It takes some work to get them and in some cases you have to write something but not all. She gives you detailed instructions on where to put your links as well. This is effort that will pay off in the long run.

Bottom line. If you are using article marketing as a way to create backlinks, use high PR sites and only submit quality articles. That may mean outsourcing if you can't or don't want to write them yourself.

Think quality over quantity and you'll do so much better with article marketing. Seriously. The long-term benefits of putting out high quality, truly informative articles far exceeds the limited advantages of pumping out a ton of mediocre (or worse) bundles of words. Better to pay an excellent ghostwriter $25 for one great article than a hack for 5 'blah' articles. The high quality article will get picked up and spread around more, plus you'll build a reputation as someone who knows what he's talking (writing) about. Don't use a spinner and if you use PLR, make darn sure you (or a hired writer) turn it into something that's far from a blatant rehashing of the original.

That's my take on it, but there are others who probably think spinning articles is great and paying someone $3 for a barely legible article is fine. I'm guessing you can make money using those approaches, too, or people wouldn't advocate them. It's just not for me.

There's been a lot of debate about using article spinners,
and not just in this forum.

There are three Schools of Thought on this topic.

School 1: All article spinners are crap. Full Stop. No
machine could possibly replace the human brain. I have
no intention of ever trying one because it's not a good
    use of my time.

School 2: All article spinners I've tried are crap. I just
wanted a press this button system that creates high
quality articles with no help from me. Actually, I'm
    looking for the Holy Grail.

School 3: Not all article spinners are crap, most of them
are, but there a small handful that do actually produce
quality articles. I know it involves work, but it will save
me a HUGE amount of time and work in the long run. Now
    I can market very effectively.

Yes the human brain is the most complex computer on
the face of this planet... and possibly in the Universe.

But, the thing is though, not all article spinners are
created equal. Some are completely autonomous... work
on their own with little or no input from their owners,
these synonym machines produce absolute drivel. It's
completely unreadable, and unusable to marketers with
    scruples.

There are others where users decide exactly what should
be used as output, but there is no control over the
structure of your article. These provide good quality
results, but the structure of each article will be the same
    as the seed article.

In the final group of spinners, we're beginning to thin
them out somewhat now, we have article spinners where
not only can you use exactly the output you want to
include, but you can also change their structures too.
These provide very high quality articles with quality
indistinguishable from the original. In some cases, where
you can exclude the original content from the final
output, your article can be of a higher quality than your
    seed article.

In the last two groups of spinners, because it involves
human interaction, they do in effect have the benefits of
    the human brain. It's a win-win situation.

My position on this matter is well known. I belong to
school 3. I like to work smart and work effectively. I
don't want to spend hours everyday pumping out article
after article. Nor do I want to outsource the writing of
fresh articles and have to wait for them. The costs soon
add up. I do outsource though. I pay for somebody to
create spinnable versions of my articles so I have articles
on tap whenever I need them.
