I am in the process of signing up for Bloggers.com. I saw that they want me to put the Bloggers badge on my site to verify my domain. I am not looking for SEO value. I think Blog Engage is a great place to make connections and expand my network, hence my reason for joining. However, I don't want to penalize my SEO rankings by including a badge.

I know google is cracking down on blog networks now. I don't mind getting nothing or even a minor hit on my rankings if I can make some good contacts and expand my social traffic. Does anyone know if I would be penalized and if that penalty would outweigh everything else Blog Engage has to offer?

Thanks in advance for your feedback. By the way I wrote Blog Engage originally and could only edit the body. But I was referring to Bloggers.

Hi kalens99, I'm glad to see you also signed up over on blog engage welcome to our community. So are you actually asking about blogengage.com or bloggers.com

Either way as long as it's do follow I don't think it's any issue really for seo. I mean, the links come naturally there's not much you can do, it's the social networking that brings everyone together, not links and SEO. I don't know what Google's opinion is but so far they don't seems to have any issues.

    Chat soon,

    Brian
