wordpress upgrade - my host is going crazy telling me to do it NOW

I use stablehost.com for hosting (which I love) and they just sent me this email...

Hello Bob -

Wordpress released Wordpress 3.3.2 this morning as there's been a security issue with 3.3.1. If you are running Wordpress, please update to 3.3.2 TODAY. We are sending this email to all users, therefore if you don't run Wordpress, you can safely ignore.

If you do run Wordpress and do not upgrade today, you will be receiving an email every day until you do upgrade. We will soon be suspending accounts that are not up to date as they are getting hacked and affecting our other customers.

Why wouldn't you want to upgrade? The reasons seem pretty sound to me, and if your host is anything like HostGator, you just click a button, count to 10, and go on about your business.

I just thought it was important to bring to everyone's attention. Any other update has been just a simple reminder, not something they tell me to do today or else they will keep emailing me daily and suspend my account if I don't.

  My hosting company doesn't threaten me like that. But I wish they had because I had to nuke my server last month because of not upgrading some things and security issues.

  I hope it would be easy as what you think. It's definitely a case to case basis my friend.

Out of date WP are very vulnerable to attack - and if you EVER have to deal with one of those, you will never wonder why their email was so urgent again. I had one hit me about 3 years back and it chewed up everything php on my site so bad I had to just scrap everything php and start it over- 3 wasted years. Also - the host had to pull several of their own files. I ended up just moving to a new server. It was a 5 month headache by the end of it. Don't know how long it took them to fix their end of the damage.

Just update the WP.
