Is it safe to delete a website from Google Webmaster Tools?

Hello,

is it safe to remove a website from google webmaster tools?

Following the advice of some webmasters to stay away from google webmaster tools after the last google updates yesterday I removed some websites from google webmaster tools but sadly some of them have lost ranking.

Some were for months in 1st page, position 2-4.

I have about other 30 websites in my webmaster tool account, I removed only some websites (the most important).

I hope they'll gain back their ranking soon!

Should I readd them to google webmaster tools or wait some time?

    The thing is if your site is showing in webmaster tools then Google have more access to know your website, if you are using black hat technique then you can be caught easily.

    Did your website lose its rankings "after" you removed it from webmaster tools?

    I know there has been some debate as to whether having your sites listed in Google's webmaster tools is a bad idea and to be fair, there has been no definitive proof as to whether or not this is the case.

    Personally i have removed some of my websites in the past with no adverse affects either way. You will no doubt hear opinions about this and nothing more I'm afraid.

    Thanks for your answers.

    I generally use seo companies or automatic backlinks tool like linkaloha for my websites SEO.

    Yes, my websites lost their ranking after I removed them from google webmaster tools.

    One of them was in position 4 for months and now is in position 19, another was in position 2 and now it is not in the first 100!

    It sounds strange to me, I hope it is only a temporary problem.

    Thanks for your answer, I understand your example.

    For the 2 websites I'm using only linkaloha and the link builing is at low rate: 5-10 of mixed links/day, bookmarking, 1 blog comment, social media, web 2.0, articles.

    It seems strange that the 2 websites were stable for at least 2 months in the top 5 and the day after removal from google webmaster tools they lost their positions.

    I hope they will be back soon, I will update the thread.

    I wanted to share this experience to see if others has faced a similar situation removing websites from google webmaster tools.

    Did you notice the drop in rankings after you removed the sites from the Google Webmaster Tools? Even if so, I don't think there is a connection. I don't think simple removal of the sites from the Webmaster Tools has any effect on their rankings, that's absurd.

    Yes, it is absurd also for me, for this reason I have posted here.

    But the fact is that 2 websites of mine were in position 2 and 4 for the main keyword for at least 2 months.

    Yesterday I removed them from google webmaster tools.

    Today, seeing not earnings in google adsense, I checked the rankings and noticed the drop: position 19 and not in top 100.

    I don't think you were slapped because you removed your websites from Google Webmaster tools. Look for the reason somewhere else - for example, why don't you check who you've been replaced with.

    As far as I'm aware, the data that is available on WMT is data that Google gains from crawling your website whether or not you have WMT installed.

    Webmaster tools is just a UI so that you can access (some) of the data that Google collects and use it to improve and optimize your site.

    The only way to stop Google from gathering this data is to edit your robots.txt file to prevent Googlebot from crawling your site- effectively forefiting your SE rankings.

      I question the truth of what you have said here because SEO companies - who should know; I'm talking about at least one well respected one and one other - have told me to remove my G Webmaster Tools because it does give Google more info. I think its like this: Google CAN/MAY get the info anyway; but with GWT they WILL get it.
