Forum posting and traffic

Most of the WSO that I have purchased give the same type of plan for achieving free traffic....find forums in your niche and post relevant posts every day (5-10) as well as reply to other posts and contribute. Does this only work for the IM niche? Many of the forums I found in the niches I am involved in do not allow links in the signature or or even to be posted. Should this idea be scrapped and find something more effective?

From my experience the best way to get recognized and build authority is through getting well known by actually contributing value around the net. This can take a lot of time, but once people realize you are the real deal, there is a lot of power that you have to make things happen.

Absolutely. The key is to add value wherever you go. To be regarded as an authority you actually have to BE an authority.

No! this strategy still works, I've never had a problem finding forums that accept sigs, yes, there are alot that don't but you just need to keep looking, get yourself a scaper it's by far the quickest way to find them, I use scapebox but there are other, cheaper, fewer featured ones that will do the job you want just as good.

This method has been abused so much that many don't accept links and the ones that do run a tight ship, abuse will not be tolerated.

Don't abuse the privilege on the forums you do find. Be an authority, post links to websites to that you're not affiliated with, contribute to the forum. It's alot of work, forum posting isn't an easy win for free traffic but it does work if you're willing to put in the work.

Once you gain a reputation as a highly valued member of the community you can start to use the sig to promote your products and sent them to the occasional affiliate offer as long as it's highly relevant to the OP.

If you purchased an WSO that only offered this strategy for free traffic, ask for a refund

This is not a bad strategy, but it won't give you much traffic.

Youtube marketing and Facebook viral scripts are great way of getting free traffic

I don't want to say forum marketing sucks.....but forum marketing sucks (for me anyways ).

If you have the patience and the time it can be an OK source of traffic. It can be boring and tedious though. And with the Penguin update G+ isn't really counting forum sigs and profile links like they used to. Trust me I know. I had a site that I blasted with 100% forum sigs and links and it sank faster than the titanic, and I'm talking thousands of links. They were crappy links but I knew it was going to get nuked eventually just wanted to test it out.

Make sure they are high PR Forums and that they are active.
Nothing worse than putting in effort on a forum and it is like a ghost town.

If you got the patience go for it.

      • This strategy works for any niche. If you have an insurance website, go on forums and search for threads about insurance. If you sell a specific type of product, write useful posts targeting people who are searching for information about that product. Forum posting is a great way to increase popularity and gain natural traffic.

I hear ya. But it's called W-O-R-K for a reason. If you budget about 15-20 minutes a day to forum marketing in your niche, by the end of the month you'll have around 100 or more posts. Nothing to write home about...but not too bad either.

Reminds of a (not so funny) joke.

Hey, what did the penny say to the dollar?

"Without me...you're just ninety nine cents"

        Moral...

Every little bit helps. If you only get 10 subscribers on your list a month from forum marketing...that's 10 more than you would of had before. Savvy?

Yes, forum posting in every niche I've gotten into works.

However, that is only one piece of the pie. I would keep forum posting to only 5 posts a day and then do other things, like post original, 1 a week per site unique articles for syndication, 1 a day 5 times a week classified ads and 30 sec. youtube videos, and at least 5 a day posts on social networks 95% value and only 5% promotional.

This sounds like a lot but when you systemize it, it isn't so much.

It's really about the effort that you put into it. Just like most of the comments above, you can make virtually anything work if you do it right. Add value, boost credibility and you will gain a following. It is slower than blasting out a bunch of spam comments with a link in your sig file but more consistent.

Forums posting works better for creating relationships. While I do get some traffic from forums I believe the people I meet on the forums are more important.

Forum signature marketing is about as good as
      Article directory marketing.

The real problem is that, because it actually
works a little bit, people think it is a good
use of their time and effort.

It's yet another one of those cases where people
try to add too much "Internet" and not enough
      actual "Marketing".
