    My opinion... my 2 cents...

    1. offer something on your website that is unique, interesting and informative...
    2. offer something for free that will hopefully enhance the visitor's life
    3. get people to add your site to their facebook ,twitter, etc.
    4. do a ton of SEO on it.

I have not done seo for my wordbuzzmarketing site, but I guess I've been lucky...

Here is the basic principle of setting up viral website.

      1. Offer users something valuable on condition
      2. That condition would be to refer it so many people
      or
Share it with other people(like facebook)
      or
Allow them to enter their friend's email (later you can send those guys email with your URL address in the email)
      or
Allow them to like your page, share your page

With all due respect, this is a common mistake that people make. It's not that it can't or won't work, but the condition will seriously impact the viral effect.

What you need to do instead, is find a way of benefiting on the backend, once the carrier has been passed on. You need to ride its coat-tails, so to speak.

So, is it like if I create content with the intention of doing it in a way so that others want to share it, if I do that 1000 times, maybe 1 will go viral?

One of the big things about content going viral is that it has to be about something that people care enough about to read it, or watch it and then share it with their friends.

You can write the best content ever, trick it out with free offers and such, but if its in an area where there are not enough people to achieve critical mass of sharing, its not going viral anyway.

I'm not syying divulge your niche in this thread, just saying that is why in general many viral pieces are mass market, cute, or funny or horrible. And most of them were not made with the intention of going viral, they just did.

Create a video, post it in youtube or your site. Normally people would suggest a funny video. But I recently saw a video, it was basically a video that showcase the elementary students lifestyle of those from the 80s, where we don't have facebook/iphone. It got viral and viewed more than 1million in 4 days. This short film is very simple but it connects to those who have gone through those time.

So a funny video or a video that can connect to people is easily be viral.

Create something that is unique and form a strong impression in people's mind. Normally a video that is funny, unique or weird would do the trick. Think of a funny idea that no one has used before and your site might go viral

I don't think there is really such a thing as 'making' content go viral - that's not to say it's impossible but in my experience, the vast majority of viral photos / videos / whatever else were created by people who were not actually trying to create viral content but just got lucky.

Having said that, your content will generally stand a much better chance of becoming viral if you include a few surprised kitties or roller-skating babies

            Just my 2 cents..

If there was an easy way to go viral, every one would be doing it! You've got to have something truly unique that's moving in some way - usually something funny or something powerful. Of course, if you were to get Tweeted by someone with a lot of followers that would have a similar effect, although only temporarily.

Assuming that this is a serious question, I think this strategy is the road to nowhere.

Things "go viral" because they trigger the interest of the public. To do that they have to be extraordinary in some way.

But creating 1000 of anything, with the idea that if this one doesn't work there are 999 more, is a recipe for mediocrity.

You are much more likely to succeed if you put all your effort into one magnificent effort. And if it doesn't go viral? You've still done something of value in your life.

I think you have a good point... quality over quantity. Perhaps, I should create 1000 things, and only release the 1 or 2 high quality ones for others to see. Then they may think I'm really good. Lolol.

    Use a viral script

Something like pay with a tweet where the user in order to download your report or free give away, must click on the download button that at the same time sends a message about your site to his followers on twitter.

There are others available for Facebook likes and wall posts.

Basing your success on this method alone is a long shot, you need to diversify your traffic sources.

    Michael,

Prepare a plan for each week best if it will be on the basis of any kind of fests and come up with some really attractive that even you will find great and forced to buy. Use social medias and social bookmarking sites to spread the offer. This is the most easiest yet highly effective way to popularize your site's link. I still follow this process and I am really satisfied with the results. I am sure it will help you out!

As cliche as it sounds...offer something of "real value", something unique and interesting.

Then post on social media such as Facebook, reddit, stumble and other similar sites.

If the content is really good, technically it should go viral easily.

Attach yourself, your business and your products to someone who can, or to something that can, i.e. Nike along with other brand names attached themselves and their products to Manny Pacquiao...

I honestly think Reddit is the most appropriate way in my opinion. However, you have to preach to them properly.

I had a Dating tips website that was hit hard by Google changes and one of the ways I brought it back was by the help of my brother who had a +10,000 Karma Reddit account.

I started by sharing funny meme like pictures on reddit (with no ads or anything). Some of them then got way out of hand and the viral spikes were happening every two or 3 days (like 5000 visitors/day sometimes)

After about 3 weeks. My site started getting back it's natural organic rankings.

Intro Popup "Facebook" Share button, With Message
Provide An Intro Readers Can See Before They Have To "Like" The Page
To Reveal The Rest, Majority of the content or giveaway
Outro Popup To Your Facebook Event - Phone Conference, Webinar, ect.

If you followed that path you would be creating a systematic viral website or marketing machine, this can be done with wordpress plugins..

    The secret recipe:
    1) give people something worth sharing
    2) make it easy to share

Something worth sharing could be funny (grab a funny copyright free picture and add a funny caption is the easiest), bold and brash (people love opinions!), satire (especially when backed with seemingly good logic), something free (bigger the better, book, course...), timely (especially regarding beautiful women), or reference material that they will want to come back to time and time and time again.

Make it EASY for the folks to share -- put it on a page with nothing but big ol' share buttons. Later on, once the volume has gone up, you can put ads or other things on the page. But at first, the call to action must be share share share.

Upload a few viral videos on YouTube with a link to your website in the description & just promote your website everywhere like Facebook, Twitter, have business cards available with your website on it. Use media buys, buy a few Facebook ads and hope for the best. That's how I would personally go about it.

The basic ways to make any offer go viral is to:

    1. Offer something for free of real value to a targeted audience of customers.

    2. Make social media tools available to make it easy for those that receive your free offer to share news of the offer with all of their friends.

It's about a dream I have that I so want to fulfil but don't really know what I'm doing. I have set a group up on Facebook about it but just have a few members (many of them friends)!!. I couldn't do one with a share button which has put me at a great disadvantage! . I have sent tons of tweets and asked people to RT about it. But it's a bit of a minefield!!. I am different! and have an old puppet with me in a photo but have no clue who could help me. Anyone??.

First of all there is the question if virality can bring you CUSTOMERS.

It doesn't really matter if you have 1000000 visitors on your website from Pinterest or Youtube or where ever if none of them result in to customers/leads.

So depending on your niche, you might forget millions of views on your video etc.

How could you then help your site/content go viral? By creating something remarkable. Something that people feel compelled to share without any scripts and that kind of stuff. I am not saying you shouldn't use any of those (I use them too), but if people share your stuff simply because it is awesome... It is so much better.

Virality is not easy to achieve and it is hard to predict what goes viral.

Also keep in mind that there is a huge amount of startups with way bigger budgets what you have and even they struggle with getting their site go viral.

To go viral, your content needs to be either very legit, or very funny.

Think a videoscribed mini-documentary with tons of statistics and professional-quality voiceover, on a topic that's really hot in the news and everybody is talking about. Also, stuff like the Ron Paul ads with really dramatic music and graphics.

Either that, or just something that makes people laugh out loud.

Entertainment value, essentially, is what you're going after.

Also, you need to be able to create it yourself, for the most part. You're not going to assemble a team of freelancers and just pay your way to a viral hit... at least not unless you're willing to give them detailed instructions.

    Hi,

Facebook or Youtube can help you this. Have you notice such an images that circulated in facebook which trigger your emotion and would share after you see it? Some do this to get traffics They just put their link as a watermark or in description.

But There are no secrets it was just that it was awesome high quality content.
