Facebook page for website

I had a guy build a facebook page for my websites about a year ago, the name on the page is not my websites domain name. It is for a keyword. When I log in to the edit profile the website domain is my website. My question is will the likes still help with seo even though the facebook page name does not match the domain

As long as you have links on your facebook page pointing back to your main domain from it will help.

Yes, it will help. I have my page (AshishPatelFans) no keyword, no domain but i see lots of traffic coming from it.

make sure you get real likes and post good content.

Yeah sure - if the keyword attracts more people, which you then re-direct to your actual website. Although, I would probably opt to get a fan page with your website's name, to brand yourself better.

So is a fanpage better than a company page? What's the difference?

      Thanks in advance.

Your only downfall is the lack of branding.

You'll still get traffic through the link on your facebook page to your main website.

Branding is very important, create a new one a start promoting, make sure to give something useful. Search engines see your brand in titles, urls etc. on social media - that's very beneficial.

I have 6 pages with keywords as the names of the page, all of them with more than 300 likes, i put my link there, and it does help.

however my new strategy is a facebook page name with both key word and domain name such as Designer Lingerie - www yoursite com

It still working even the name is not same with your domain name. Maybe the weight might not that good due to keywords target might not match correctly .
But as long it do link together , it still provide some SEO effect.
