When to use paid advertising

I signed up for a wso that has a 7 day plan to make sales. I am skeptical of the plan and the methods but I figured that I would follow it exactly and see what happens. After all, I haven't made a sale online yet, some hops but no sale. My question is this, when using free traffic are you basically testing to see if you have a good offer, sales page etc? If you are making a few sales is the next step to take the profits and invest in ppc to scale it up?

This can work very well provided that you know what your conversion rates are. If you don't then you are kind of taking a punt.

If you're already getting a few sales from free traffic, isn't that what you need to scale up in the first place?

Of course, by free I'm assuming you don't mean worthless paid cr** like guaranteed hits or unique visitors.

If you've followed the WSO to a T and nothing happens ... you'd better start asking the seller some questions.

Naturally, don't expect overnight results. Plant the seeds and give it time to grow.

I would definitely consider conversion as main criteria, before investing more in PPC ads. Maybe you can just run a PPC campaign with spending limit around $50, just to test it out for the ad group keywords.

If you already have stats in hand like conversion rate, EPC, how well sales page is doing, then you can make right decision.

It is a good question. You can start using paid advertising if you have known something about how it works. Bidding and campaign creation are very important when it comes to paid advertising. If you are not good enough in them then you may go wrong. Therefore get into paid advertising in a phased manner.

SEO traffic can take too long. Paid traffic is the fastest way to scale up any online business. The big dogs do all the media buys, etc etc.

Besides PPC, you can look into paid banner advertising, expired domain traffic, guest posting on authority blogs etc etc.

When you start to make some consistent sales, invest a percentage that into paid traffic and start testing and scaling.

    • You can start using paid advertising after adding a few quality articles on your site and getting your first visitors. If used properly, paid advertising offers great value for your money. Make sure you first add your site to web directories and niche directories. Before you start using paid advertising, optimize your website for search engines.

When you say "free" traffic, where are they coming from? Are they targeted in any way? Free traffic can be just as targeted as paid traffic, but it all depends where this traffic is coming from. Have you thought about building a squeeze page and sending them to a free offer? You can sell to them further down the line providing you are in this for the long haul. Sending traffic to a sales page is NOT the most effective way to market.

It takes people a couple of times after seeing an offer before they make a decision to purchase. If you are not collecting their email address then you have just ONE shot at making the sale, however, if you collect their details then you have many shots at making that sale...this is just basic practice. Even if you are sending them to a sales page, you should be trying to catch the ones that are not yet in a buying mode so you can show them that offer a couple of times.

Free traffic in the sense of using twitter, answer sites, forums and YouTube. Like I said, I am a bit skeptical of the methods and prior to this wso I wrote articles and posted them to ezine. I am going to stick with the ideas of the wso just to see what happens.

I was using a squeeze page before but this recommends just to use a sales page to start and test. Again, if it doesn't work I'll go back to the squeeze page

Paid traffic is the best way to increase lists and sales. But you should control how you use it.

As an example, when you are investing in solo ads you should try out small and see the rate of conversion, see if you can earn back at least half of your investment. If it does, you can go a little more for it. Oh yeah, internet marketer beginners usually get back half or none of the investment the first few times, but try harder and continue looking. I know because I just gone through it, it was tough, but it worked out and I am raking sales now.

Or you can just continue building your list with free traffic for a month or two. get the profit and invest it on paid traffic. Either way works.

Wish I helped and good luck to you.

Paid traffic, specially the way FB ads can be used to target really niche traffic. Your targeting is actually the key deliverable while going for paid traffic. However, some Ad campaigns fall flat on their face when the offer is not strong enough to back the claims of the Ad source.
