If your only looking for online options, most of what I know requires some work so its not really passive.

SEO Affiliate Websites (require position maintenance)
Large email lists (require emailing offers)

I don't think there are really too many true "passive" income streams. But, I have found membership sites are my new avenue for generating income. It takes a lot of work to get set up, but once they are done they are pretty passive.

Have to be careful with that. Paypal has rules about using the "donate" button. It is designed for non profits and accounts have been deleted by Paypal for using it for other purposes.

Offer local businesses down your main street a free one page website that you design and setup...not them. Create yourself a reseller hosting account with one of the better hosting companies. Then you setup each 1 page website and charge each client a monthly hosting fee. If they want to customize the design of your 1 page website for them make sure they pay for it!

As you scale up you could easily outsource the creation of each 1 page site.

This helps you build trust with each business owner who takes you up on the offer...then why not go back to the business owner after 3 months and give them a free 1 page mobile-enabled version of their 1 page website for an additional mobile hosting fee

Agree with Patrick.

"Passive Income" is a tricky concept to master. By definition, it means you do something once and it'll make money in perpetuity.

So if I was focusing on creating a passive income stream, I would tightly focus on a VERY specific marketplace, create a KILLER lead magnet, write an autoresponder series full of great information and product recommendations that provide lots of value, and then promote the hell out of that email list.

This strategy requires hard work; but for my money it's the best way to make passive income online. The best part is it will run on autopilot if you're creating content that ranks for high traffic keywords.

I've been using the Zeek Rewards program. Not entirely passive as you do have to place one free ad for them each day, but that takes all of three minutes. Takes lot of time and money to file and get a patent accepted. Also you have to take people to court to force them to pay typically, which is again more time and money. I personally can't stand patents, they were invented to help protect big corps from stealing small frys ideas, and sadly because of political and corporate corruption instead what has happened is these corps file thousands and thousands of patents on the dumbest most general things and they're accepted...effectively squandering innovation by "patent trolling" AKA suing anyone who actually creates anything using a idea they have legal power over now, and example is a button with the word app on it................................................ .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ........................... It's sickening how horribly broken the patent system is, big corps like Google, Microsoft etc...never have to create another product ever to be profitable, they just have to sue anyone who does...In fact every android made Microsoft gets a percentage.

I would say build a website with high traffic and make money from adsense or banner ads. I know of people who are making money from it. Seems to work well. Anything with high traffic equals money. So start building your quality website today to get more traffic.

The most passive income is owning a blog and having steady visitors leading to steady earnings. However, as in any business, IM is all about risk. Some months you can prevail and earn a year's worth of salary while in other months you might end up with a negative balance due to an unfortunate advertisement budget.

I am also familiar with just been paid... The guy who sponsored me is making over $200 a day. It's more like an investment thing. Make your money grow for you. The more money you put into it, the more money you get each day. It's like a high yield savings account that get compounded daily versus monthly or yearly. I started with the free $10 and am making a cool 20 cents a day... Lol Seems promising but idk.

Really, any website or blog that assists someone that gets them to, or closer to their goals will be effective. Especially when you can provide some real world experience in a niche area. And the niche is of low value. A friend of mine still makes a few bucks bucks a month off of an educational site ( 123CollegeDegree ) built years ago. His original goal was not to make a lot of money, but just to get the word out about what he did. It took a few months for the word to get around, but he still gets emails every now and then thanking him for helping in getting a college degree.

Best to do it in a field, product, or concept that is long-lasting. Avoid fad items. Especially in a field like education, quick marketing hype won't last very long as your audience is typically intelligent. Yes, people are emotional, but that factors in more when thinking about how/when they will make their buying choice. The underlying advice/product still needs to get results to get the word-of-mouth sales / manual backlinking.

It may well be worth looking at setting up some form of Amazon site as they can provide a reasonable passive income but the hardest part is finding a niche and people wont provide that vital bit of information as it could dilute down revenue so they would tend to keep it low profile.

If it hasn't been mentioned yet, posting articles on sites that share add revenue (i.e. Hub Pages, Squidoo) might be helpful. The more popular your articles, the more you make. The other ideas above also are great opportunities.

- Find a topic you are passionate about or are really interested in.
- Write or outsource a brief report explaining one aspect of your passionate topic.
- Put together a basic squeeze page on your own website with an optin to receive your report for free.
- Then go join up on forums closely related to your passionate topic (making sure you can add a link in your signature to point to your lead-gen website).
- Contribute regularly and offer genuine help to people who are asking questions or looking for assistance on the forums.
- Slowly your list will start to build itself as people reading your forum posts see that you want to help.
- Send helpful emails to your list 2 times a week.
- Then every couple of weeks send a marketing type email, providing helpful information but tying in an offer to an electronic/physical product with your affiliate link.
In short be willing to offer genuine help then people will see that you're not just out there to flog them the latest offers

1. Invest in stocks to earn dividends and capital appreciation. You can invest in blue chips companies if you are lazy to do research, because they are strong firms with good records.

2. Invest in real property to earn rental income and capital appreciation. Some research need to be done on the locations, developers and etc. Besides, investing in real property requires some money (to pay for down payment and documentation) but this is a very stable form of investment.

3. Start up an internet marketing business. You don't need to have your own products. You can start by becoming an affiliate.
