I currently have roughly 3-4 Facebook fan pages, they have a good rank both on Google and FB. I make some decent money from them, problem is I can not seem to work out how to turn of the feature that allows fans to post links and comments.

On one hand I understand that it's good to allow them to discuss things. But on the other hand, it's beyond annoying having to keep deleting all the bloody spam links being posted on my pages.

I have looked in all of the different settings, I have even turned off the "Everyone can post" feature but it still allows them to post :confused:.

Anyone know how to stop this at all, any help would be appreciated.

    Hey Lee,

    Facebook spam is really frustrating. I used to have a lot of trouble with their spam filter settings as well.



    If you click on the Options button as shown in the picture, you'll see a button titled Settings. There, you can control posting rules.

    I hope this helps.

      Hi thanks for replying to my problem, unfortunately I don't see the little "Padlock" nor the options on my posts via either my profile or the fan page.

        I checked this on another one of my FB pages and I couldn't see it either.

        Maybe this will work:

        Go to the page in question.
        On top, in the admin panel, there will be a button titled Manage
        Click on it, and in the menu that opens up, click Edit Page
        Here you can control posting ability and posting visibility.

        Let me know if this works.

          Thanks but I have already tried that it's mentioned in the first post, this is why I'm so confused because even with "Everyone can post" not ticked it still allows them to post.

            Everyone can post to EZ Rupee Online's timeline
            Everyone can add photos and videos to EZ Rupee Online's timeline

            Silly question, but it's worth a try. Have you unchecked both of them?

            If so, I'm clueless.


            You can learn how to add certain types of posts as spam if that doesn't work.

              Yes I have them unticked and have also ticked them and saved it, then unticked once again and saved with the hope that it was some type of glitch, unfortunately it's still not working.

    Are people posting new updates or are they commenting on your updates? I don't know if you can turn commenting off, if that is the case.

        Oh right, you can't really turn that off then. The whole point of pages is so that they can be interactive. Unfortunately, spam is a bi-product of that sometimes.

        You can add common spam keywords to your moderation blocklist to reduce the amount of spam at least slightly.

          Blast! that does kind of suck to be honest, I guess I'll just have to monitor the pages constantly then. Thanks for the help I appreciate it etc....

      I would not waste my time to be honest, I have tried to reason with them before but they just blasted me out the water.

        Yeah, although I have tried to use Facebook a little, I've gotten along quite well without it. Even with all the talk about Facebook being the future of IM, I still think that it should only be used as a supplement.
