The ONE thing that'll make you the MONEY! (takes ONE second to read - just implement!)

TAKE ACTION!

..
Really, that's it.
It doesn't matter if you're a "noob" or whatsoever.
You have an idea, you have a plan, GO FOR IT!

No matter what other people say - just try it! Even if your first project is a complete and utter failure, you'll LEARN from that and if you're just HALF as intelligent than me (which is no big thing to accomplish).. you'll come up with ANOTHER project.. then another and another - JUST DO IT! Just keep goin'.

i'm looking for neither - it's really the thing that there's a LOT of people who got great ideas.. but they never take action! i had some peeps hitting me up, they were like "hey, what do you think of (this and that)". ..heck those were some good ideas and i told them "just do it", don't care about possible obstacles.. fire your project up!

Exactly.. just think about cold calling companies (if you're in the offline market). Damn - I *won't* tell you how many hours i sat in front of my phone before i actually picked it up and made my first call. Y'know, i had all them plans, and i was convinced i had the best pitch in history.. BUT i didn't dial the numbers because i was somehow.. scared.. but there's this point. when it makes "click" - you just have to say to yourself: "now or never" - and then DO IT!

It's been said umpteen times and I agree you need not open a thread like this. Those who spend money on items know what they are doing.

k, so let's add some spice to this one.
hope y'all have your editor ready.

let's say you target the keyphrase "my mighty keyphrase".. hit up quintura.com and search for that exact phrase - now you got some related kw's. ...go to the google keyword-tool and again, search for the exact keyphrase - have a look at the section called "Additional keywords to consider" ..now you have another truckload of related kw's - USE those terms/words on your site. work 'em into your site copy.

..and all i wanted to say is "take action".

I don't think there is anything wrong with Chris' post. Yes, lots of people are handing out the message "Just do it." But, maybe it takes seeing this message several times for certain people to actually take action. I don't think he has any negative intentions behind his message.

Plus, his original post is more than just a post. It's a conversation starter. There are a lot of people out there who have the knowledge and skills to start making money in their own business, but they are too nervous to "just do it." Myself being one of those people.

I've been wanting to start cold calling for a while to grow my business. But somehow when I go to pick up the phone, I freeze. I don't know what I'm scared of. I guess I have the feeling that every business owner I call will see me as another sleezy salesman and not give me the time of day. I assume they are programmed to yell at me and slam the phone down regardless of my offer.

Chris, I'm glad you said you spent hours in front of the phone before you're first call. That means I'm not the only one. Can you share what finally made you pick up the phone and dial? And how did your first few calls go? And now that you have done it for a while, do you still use cold calling to generate new business?

      1) it was my girlfriend who made me pick up the phone.. she was like: "do you want to start your business or what? just do it - all they can say is "no, thanks" and if they do - don't give a ****!! they don't know you! just dial the next number!!"

1.2) there will always be those, who say "i'm not interested" or even "**** off".. the thing is - just hang up! ..then count to 5 and dial the next number - really.. "1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. 5.. --DIAL".

      2) i still use it and it's FUN! (and it works) ..i also use direct mail, newspaper ads and seo. -but i have to admit, i get the most clients (that's webdesign) from word of mouth

I know, it's hard not to take it personally when someone is just not in the mood for your call or is just having a bad day. But most people are nice people. Most people don't want to be rude to other people, they actually find it quite hard to be rude. They also know the person on the other line is a business owner or works for a business owner and has to eat too. Very few people are rude just for the sake of it.

If you have a good offer, chances are they are going to be grateful for your call. Just don't give them the chance to say very much at all. Don't mess around with "how is your day" and whatnot, just get to the point, say what you have to say, and make the appointment. Once you have called a few people I actually find it quite fun. It's great to get the appointment, and once you get on a roll, your mindset changes and it gets quite addictive.

Make that first call. It's just like anything. At first you might be crap at it, and you'll come up against that first objection you didn't expect, you'll stutter and won't know what to say. But when you get off that call thinking you messed that one up, you'll have an answer to that objection, and you'll never mess it up again. If you do anything enough, you can't help but get good at it.

      Best of luck!

Good post! This is the factor that had the single most impact on me not earning money online. The ball started rolling when I realized that I just had to DO it, and focus on my goals.

Very good points! Cold calling is an art in itself, and like anything else it requires training. I did cold calls for 1,5 years myself, and I feel your pain. I have been working with people that have been doing cold/warm calls for all of their career, and they still are being coached to refine their approach and try out new stuff.

Like with anything else, you just have to DO it. The biggest hurdle is to start calling, and don't stop until you get your first positive result.

There are many schools of cold calling and sales technique. I agree with Lesley Huntley that getting right to the point is important when speaking to fellow business owners. Just condense your message, give them a clear view what's in it for both you and them and have a clear call to action.

I have a lot of strategies to share with you for future calls if you PM me, but for now just get out there and call.

        Easy to follow list:
        • Set up a list of about 20 prospects (it is not as much as it seems, you probably won't even reach half).
        • If someone says no, then it's their loss.
        • Don't take a big break. Just note down what you did right and wrong.
        • Just move on to the next on the list. No thinking, just doing.
        • Keep going until you get a yes.

You will end up feeling sooooooo good about getting that first yes

        Chris,
I would revise that to be: "TAKE MASSIVE ACTION!"

Just to belabor the point, here's my Top 10 list on the subject:
        1. Take MASSIVE action
        2. Nothing happens until something moves. ~Einstein
        3. The universe rewards action. ~Anon the Philosopher
        4. Just Do It! ~Nike
        5. Excessive affection for perfection leads to analysis paralysis.
        6. There is no Try; there is only DO or Do Not. ~Yoda
        7. Be ye doers ... and not hearers only. ~ James 1:22
        8. A body at rest tends to stay at rest. A body in motion tends to stay in motion. ~Newton's 1st Law
        9. For every ACTION, there is an equal and opposite reaction. ~Newton's 3rd Law
        10. It's "SOW and you will reap" (not "WSO and you will reap").

        @Lewis Turner and @iTrader,
This IS important advice. Nearly everyone on this forum already knows WHAT to do. Too often, we get distracted by the next new idea.

We just need to pick one thing that we know works and do a lot of it. Then, as we get better at it, do a lot more of it.

        Inertia can hurt-ya.

Your product/site/service doesn't have to be perfect; it just has to BE. Make it happen, then make it better.

OK, OK, I'll stop with the platitudes.

Thanks for your reply, Chris. It's amazing how persuasive girls can be...lol

I've never made a single cold call in my life, but I'm going to give it a shot on Monday. I've made follow-up calls to emails and letters. I was always nervous but once the call got underway, it was a piece of cake. So I haven't a clue why the hell I'm so nervous.

So this Monday, I'm going to take your advice (and many others' advice) and "Just do it." I'll set a goal of something like 25 calls at least and use the 1...2..3..4..5 method and just get it done!

    Thanks, man!

Besides Take Action, we should focus on what we did too.

There is no point that we keep changing our goal.

Thus, we should fully focus on our goal when we are taking action.

    Lesley,

That's some of the best advice I've received so far. I've talked to a lot of people who say that once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun. I'm just impatient and want to be at that level right away. But I guess I can't get there without doing a bunch of crappy calls first.

I especially like you're point about making mistakes - you'll really only make them once. And then the next time, you'll answer the objection like a pro.

I believe the problem is not take action or focus, lots are lost after first failure and dont know who to trust anymore. If you are going to commit an affiliate product or program , dont trust any review. Look at the affiliate links in thier review you will know they are biased ...

Come here and post for advices before you take action , lots of sincere advices here.
