Blogging on Multiple Topics: Examples,Courses?

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone post some examples of some bloggers that are successful blogging on more than one topic?

I have a blog of mine I am resurrecting with good backlinks/pagerank etc... and I'm going to shift that blog just a bit to make it more of lifestyle blog covering SOME money-making, travel (quasi-minimalism) and some more lifestyle topics.

I know this format can be difficult but I'm not looking to get rich from it...maybe just a side income in time.

Also, if there any courses on this subject I would look at that too.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read this.

Ken

Honestly, why would you need a "course" for doing what is the MOST NATURAL way of blogging?

Before the narrow minded "marketers" (and the quotation mark are there to signal my doubt about that kind of marketing) discovered WordPress and blogging... the real bloggers were always posting about a lot of different topics, according to their interests.

Human interests are not that unidirectional as the above-mentioned marketers would think. And for the technical solution: blog software have categories

Good points Istvan...makes a lot of sense, which is exactly why I want to 'get back to basics' a bit and do this.

      Thanks.

      • You can have a successful lifestyle/biz blog if you're willing to take the time and make an investment in branding yourself. Look at John Chow and what he's done.

There's probably even a ripe market opportunity for the kind of blog you describe. Lord knows I'm sick of "Follow Me on My IM Journey!" blogs. Show people it's not just about the money, it's about how you live.

Thanks for the encouragement. That's been my feeling. I want to give people a view in to how I live and how I REALLY do it, not the typical 'here's the IM crap I'm gonna peddle on to you today'. Any 'work at home stuff' will only be stuff that I use.

Oh, and you have the best handle on WF!!

My suggestion is to make sure you organize your categories and/or tags well. I think that's the best way to keep your visitors coming back.

Honestly, if you were to have non niche-specific blog then I don't think you need to really follow any format. However, I don't recommend this, because it can be pretty tough to market and monetize a blog like that. Not to put you down or anything, I'm just saying that niche blogs are a lot easier to rank for and monetize.
