Which are the best ways to leverage articles?

Consider signing up for article directory sites, such as ezinearticles.com, and then post them there. Find the ones that will give you do follow links so you can get the most benefit from them.

@ 10 a week it would take 2 years and EA does not even process articles that quickly.
Others would ban me for spamming.

I see what you're saying; but you did put yourself into that little predicament by writing 1,000 articles and never doing anything with them. If you don't have the patience to publish them over time, then follow Alexa's advice and bundle them into PLR packs.

Yes, OK.

There will be some.
I imagine just short of 100.

On: diving holidays, skiing, The Poconos, St. Croix USVI, Wales, UK, Scotland and Thailand.

My articles are not categorized, so it might take me an hour to sort them.

EA spotted my articles for sale in bundles, some, even many of which are on their site.
I got this from EA today:

"Hi Owen,

This is problematic, as articles published on our site should be
exclusive to you
(EzineArticles.com - Editorial Guidelines - 1b). If they
are being sold as PLR articles, this is would no longer be the case.

If you would like these articles to remain on our site, please
discontinue their sale on your PLR website.

If you would like to continue selling them as PLR on your website,
please remove those articles from EzineArticles.com.

Let us know when one of these actions has been taken, and your
account will be reviewed for reinstatement".

I personally don't see a conflict.
They give them away, I sell them: they are still not 'exclusive to me'.

What do people think?

It's not a matter of the article being exclusive to you. It's all about the authorship being exclusive to you. When you sell the articles as PLR, anyone can attach their name to the article and claim authorship. This provides a potential problem for EZA:

Multiple copies of the same article can very possibly be submitted under different names, watering down the legitimacy of the content in their directory. In this case they know that you are the original author; but how will their readership know? Someone else could get your work syndicated and you receive no benefit.

I am quoting to the forum, the notification EA staff sent me this AM.

In fact, their guidelines include this para:

"Publication Date Verification - If content found matching the submitted article has a publication date AFTER the article was submitted to EzineArticles.com, the found content is not a concern. Why? Authors may have content that has been republished elsewhere. If any matching content is found with a submission date that is BEFORE ours and the author names do not match, the article will be rejected and the author will be asked to provide an explanation as to who has rights to the content".

So, plagiarism of my article should not be a problem, eh?

Not sure how you interpreted the reply as "coming after you" but it definitely wasn't meant to be that way. It was only a reply to your question.

Huh, was unaware of that one. I'd guess then that they worry about the content being spun/rewritten and then resubmitted? Selling your work out as PLR makes this much more likely.

I'm merely speculating, this is not a situation I have faced or would ever face. Anything I write that gets put on EZA is for syndication only. I'd never try to sell it as PLR.

Well, your reply makes it sound as if I made it up, but it was a quotation from EA.

Anyway, if someone posts my article to EA, it is up to EA to trap them.
Not me.
There is plenty of article rewriting s/w about that searches EA for keywords, delivers the most popular articles and holds them in a window to be used to write a fresh article.
At least my way, I get paid for plagiarism.

Article syndication will get you visitors and back links from other sites.

Putting them on your own site will help you rank for many long tail terms.

I would put some on my site and use others for syndication.

Owen,

I have a simply philosophy: Your content is an asset.

What that means is you should think outside of just syndicating articles over a network. Instead you can use them in a variety of ways that drives traffic back to both you and your website:

1) Create simple YouTube videos from what you've written

2) Use the articles to come up with a large number of bullet point style tips...use these as status updates on Google+; Facebook; and Twitter

3) Collect articles on related topics and turn them into special reports you sell or offer in exchange for a person's email address

4) Collect the articles and sell as PLR.

5) Target a keyword for each article and build a large content site that gets SEO traffic.

6) If you have a LOT of articles on a subject, turn it into a premium information product. (I did this for one niche which makes a great income each month)

Bottom line....

You have a lot of content from these 1,000 articles. It only makes sense to distribute them in a number of different places.

Good questions.

I wrote them to provide support (backlinks for websites)
@ +/- 15 per website

I have more that 1,000 x 500 word articles, because I have 150 websites.
More like 2,000 articles.

I posted about 1,000 to EA and then stopped when Panda hit.
I posted them to other places too, but never my own sites.

The 1,000 I mentioned is part of this bundle that Google just gave me back from Knol.

Last December, I started bundling groups of 15 into PLR ebooks for $9.99 and I sell 7-8 a month.

I just think that I should be able to turn 2,000 x 500 word articles into something and being a writer more than a marketer, I feel that I must be missing some opportunity.

There are also 70-80 ebooks made from these articles.

The way I see it, there are two good options. As mentioned, you can go the PLR route. Otherwise, you just have to suck it up and start getting those articles published. If you follow my advice (and that of a few others on the thread) and make your work syndication worthy, you can get a lot of legwork out of each individual article.

If you do that, you go from a position of "ah, f*** I'm stuck with a bunch of extra articles" to "Man, these articles are producing a great ROI, and I have 1,000 to work with!"

Luckily for me and those I know, I am never despondent.

I think that syndication sounds interesting, but I know nothing about it.

Depends on what is your goal. Do you want to earn $$$ or do you just want more traffic to your website?

I would suggest compiling all your articles into e-books and sell it =) Being the product owner(vendor) is the best option!

Following the links that Alexa posted would be your best course of action if you really want to look into article syndication. The information is working wonders for me. If you absorb it, then it will do the same for you with the added bonus of having a massive head start on content.

I have spent the last two hours digging into Alexa's threads, if she will pardon the expression, and I think it I understand it.

It will not be easy to find people to syndicate content, but that is a good thing, because it puts most people off doing it.

I like those sort of challenges.

You'd be surprised how easy it is actually. What turns most people off of it is that you cannot avoid networking and building personal relationships with syndication partners. That, and it doesn't provide the "easy" answer that so many desperately seek in a traffic strategy.

It's well worth the effort though.

That's how it looks to me too.

It is very enticing to be told to fill in a form and click a button to get all the backlinks you need.

Syndication is more difficult, but more personal.
