Do I need to rewrite my press release?

I have one press release I'd like to send out to about 20 PR distribution services but I wasn't sure if that was all right. I know with website content it has to be unique but does that hold true with press releases? If I have to spin my original copy, I'm fine with that. Thanks

First of all spinning is a waste of time regardless of what you're doing. Secondly, if you honestly believe that there is a possibility of a positive outcome from spinning a press release you need to get out of this game.

      This.

You're normally much more polite and discreet than me, AM, but on this occasion that was how I was going to word it, too (until you got in first!).

There's certainly no point or value in spinning a Press Release, Sicnarf.

I'm hoping that you don't imagine a Press Release is just "something like an article but submitted to different places", and that you're not looking at Press Releases in SEO terms.

Bad choice of words on my part. I meant to say rewrite my press release. I know what you mean by saying spinning is a waste of time. So, back to the question, should I rewrite my original press release? My guess is yes, but I just wanted verification. Thanks,

I can't imagine any reason at all for having to rewrite a press release, unless you're testing specific parameters. Such writing should always be the very best you can produce anyway, reflective of your business and product(s) in the most favorable angle possible. I use prweb almost exclusively, which sends releases out to roughly 30,000 journalists and many times that many to its news outlets and subscribers. Press releases can be used for SEO purposes, but its direct reach potential is far more valuable for generating convertible traffic.

Thank you for your response. So it sounds like you've had success with press releases. Are they just one part of your backlinking strategy or do you only use press releases? Thanks again!

Hahaha... I just thought it would be nice to inject more of my personality into my posts...

I think you are looking at press release from an SEO point of view. This may not work out for you...

I'm saying this because it this is your mindset you will encounter problems in many other areas of your marketing.

Your statements immediately brings up the question of what VALUE you bring into the marketplace.

Yes, I have been quite successful using press releases, but I think you abysmally misunderstand the real value of press releases and perhaps writing in general. Backlinking is not an effective strategy in itself, but rather a component of SEO which in turn is only a very small part of marketing. Press releases and other forms of targeted publicity directed at a reading audience are extremely powerful for maximizing waves of convertible traffic. By comparison, backlinks are merely the ripples in the backwaters which may bring in whatever is floating on top at the time. I would say a general rewrite of your judgement is in order.
