Where you REALLY are on Google

Hi,

When you enter a term in the Google search bar the page of results that are displayed may be deliberately altered and not as the rest of the world views the same search term. This happens when you enter the same term repeatedly, for example a keyword phrase that you are trying to rank for, and Google pushes it's findings up the listings in an attempt to be helpful.

So how do you find out what everyone else sees? Go to proxify.com - free service - then get Google up and enter your keyword phrase in the usual way. To get even more accurate results, change the settings to show the first 100 listings - really - it works.

Hope this helps.

That's right. Many people think they reach the first page within less than a week just because they forgot to switch off the Google Preference feature. I've done that mistake as well. It's really unpleasant when you find out the real results.

You can also use Google Global to check results for a specific country and if you have sites listed in your Google account remember to "sign out" of your account before checking rankings or your sites will appear higher up than usual.

If you use the Firefox browser you can click on TOOLS in the menu bar, then choose "Start Private Browsing"

There's ways to do the same in IE and Chrome, but I don't know what they are.

Accurate results are critical in order to properly assess your marketing efforts and implement new strategies. I've also been in the 'OMG It's there! oh wait no it's not' situation myself

Hey guys... you can also use "Pagewash .com" to find out your actual ranking. When your on the site, just put in "google .com" into the bar and click on start browsing the net.. you are directed to google, then you just search for your keyword like you would do normally! I have used this extensively and it shows me the real results everytime.
