Will This Work To Get "Foot In The Door"??

I want to know if any of you have tried to sell something for cheap just to get a good customer list,, then offer that list a product that will bring in more upfront profit?

My model right now is to sell a beat for $1.99 ,, then build relation with the customer for about 2 weeks then offer them a beat cd for $40.

So I just want to know if anybody has used this model to get the customer to trust you enough with just a small investment,, then offer them something bigger in a week or 2.

Thanks

Yes I have tried this. It works. You get a proven list of buyers and make a little money at the same time. Just make sure the follow up product is in the same niche. That's obvious I know, but you never know with some people!

    Hi Shza

Yes, I think that will work if what you're offering for $1.99 really offers some value for your visitor to enter his details on your squeeze page. Otherwise, just offer the report for free which will probably attract more subscribers, then engage with them to gain their trust before selling anything to them.

Honestly, I offer a free product/service/newsletter in order to build lists. Much faster that way. Once I have a decent size list, I will upsell them a membership area subscription or my callcenter will call them and upsell them as well depending on what I am promoting.

Most importantly, don't piss off your list and give them quality stuff.

Thanks for all of your advice guys. Yup I do agree with you that I should offer them something for free FIRST, because not everyone will buy the first time, even if it's for $1.99 ,, but alot more will exchange an email for something free.

The important thing from that point is to keep them checking there emails so that I have a chance to continue the sequence and get to buy the first sale of $1.99, because I don't want to waste traffic.

One more thing - Monetize INTL, you said you upsell a membership to your list. How much success have you had with that?

This is something you should test for yourself. Nearly all of my lists are buyers who opted in after making a purchase. Although much smaller than using a free offer incentive, lists of proven buyers are far more profitable for repeat sales.

You will do WAY WAY WAY better if you offer them beatmaker software from clickbank... Heres the deal if you can give them that 1.99 for free thats even better if you can afford to do that .. Give them a teaser track thats super cool and then be like " Hey I will show you exactly how that beat was made you can make super cool beats like this yourself super super easy and super fast even if you have never done it even if its your first time ..You gotta check this out right now because its only available for a short time.."

yes it is a workable idea but it also depends on how many times you interact with your list in those 2 weeks and what you offer them,if you do this correctley you will be able to sell your $40 product.

You can also segregate your buyers after you offer them the higher priced product. Those who buy something of greater value at a higher price and willing to spend more and may not need to be grouped with those who spend to the tune of a couple dollars.

    Hey Shza,

You are correct. Either sell them something cheap, or if you can give it away for FREE. List them, then sell to them later.

I suggest offering them something of a membership first, where you can get them to affiliate your products. The membership can be cheap, but keep it monthly, it doesn't matter.

Once they are in your membership, hit them with great products that you have tried out and guarantee them it will work. Tell them because they are members of your site, you are slashing the prices down for them. That would hype sales.

There is actually another way of payment, I forgot if it was on paypal, clickbank or paydotcom. Anyway, it sells your product out first for $1 or $0. Then, after a month they are charged the full price of maybe $50?

Take note that you have to first notify the about this or it may turn into a scam.

Buyers who are satisfied with the product can just hold on to it and will be charged accordingly, no trouble for them.

Buyers who are not satisfied with the products meanwhile, will have to unsubscribe in the thirty day period, or they will be charged the full price too, without any refund and argument.

You can actually set the payment for less than a week, or two, but I suggest going for a month because based on my statistics, a one month period works best for various reasons.

Hope I helped and good luck !

Thank u all for the ideas! So it seems to me the majority of you advise me to get the opt in first before even selling anything.

This way, I can offer them multiple products and not just rely on the first time sale upfront
