Quick Question,

I've just setup my first blog, and want to do some article marketing to drive some traffic. It's been a while since Ive done any of this.

Whats the new best way to send my articles out there with a link pointing back to my blog.

Is this even a good way to get traffic anymore?

If not, whats best?

I'm trying to get good targeted traffic that will comment and participate on the blog.

Thanks in advance!

Really, Justin? What makes article directory marketing "best"?

Jeff, there is a much, much better way.
Do yourself a favor and consider the wisdom so freely given

      Still using Ezinearticles? Why?

      How do Article Directories Work?

      The VALUE of Syndication!!

...People who are making real money from
article marketing don't care much about
the directories, nor Hubpages, Squidoo, etc.

We do get links back to our sites, but don't
really give a flip about backlinks or Page Rank.

...I will add this-- If you want blog commenters,

Definitely don't use any automatic software because most (like 98%) of directories are low rank with no traffic.
The best way to do it now is to submit your articles to High PR directories like Ezine Articles Hubpages and Squidoo. I actually found this site that was updated today with top 50 article directories. They are all listed in order by Alexa rankings. Here is the link: List Of Top 50 Article Directories By Traffic, PageRank

I personally found success with Hubpages and Squidoo and some with Ezine Articles.
And yes, Article Marketing still works and people do click on your links as long as you have some quality information. To be more successful, just write a couple of articles based around different but related KWs and submit them to top 10 or top 20, whatever you have energy for.

    Welcome back and Good luck!

Article marketing is definitely still a viable source for good traffic. It just takes alot of work. If you're afraid of work, this might not be the right field for you. I generally try and write all my own articles then submit them to 10 or so directories. I try and get them in to the "big guys".(hubpages, ezine, squidoo)

Don't try and rehash old content. Try and put a spin on whatever you do. That way your articles won't be a waste of time. I don't use automation software for submitting either.

Also, some might say article marketing is dead. Not true. It's more difficult than it used to be, but definitely still a great source of traffic. The best? Depends on you. Everyone is going to have their own opinion on what is "best". Just get to writing! The traffic may not be a landslide, but it will come if you give legitimate value. Give it time.

I submit my articles to eZineArticles, and have seen the best results by submitting my content with them. I just put two relevant backlinks into the signature box with equally relevant promotional text to encourage people to click through those links.

I'm gonna be vague here, but write your blog posts first. When they get indexed after a few days, submit them to 2-3 (no more than 3) article directories like ezines, goarticles, etc.

Then start networking with other bloggers and get some guest writing opportunities. You'll draw readers and subs from them that way. Don't forget chilling on the forums, facebook and such to talk about what you're doing and drawing more eyes that way. Social media is the new SEO and it's all about engagement. That will work better in terms of traffic and SEO over placing keyphrases in your titles and body. (don't get me wrong, it helps, but social is the way to go)

If you got money, then pay for traffic via FB, I do't like adwords and I've had luck with FB ads. If you want all free methods then you can make videos and comment on others in youtube or whatever.

apart from other bloggers and webmasters that may want to showcase your content, look for and network with ezines themselves. Get creative.

read more about this tactic in this thread here.

Sorry, but this is absolutely dreadful advice. It's completely misguided, for all sorts of reasons.

Partly just the fact that article directories don't "have PR". Article directories are websites. Websites don't "have PR". Only pages have PR. However high the page rank of an article directory's own home page, its own home page isn't where your articles, or mine, are published: they go on their own, newly formed PR-0 page. How could it possibly be otherwise?

Wrong: that is not a list of article directories.

Only two of the top ten on that list are actually article directories!

It's dreadfully out of date. Some of them don't exist any more. Some were never article directories. Some of the ones that used to be article directories now have a completely different business model. I appreciate that you meant well, by posting it here, but the reality is that it's just misinformation, I'm afraid.

Article submission sites which are not directories have totally different purposes, functions and acceptance criteria. The ways one can use them to help one's business are completely different, but that list just mixes them all up - directories and non-directories together.

For anyone who wants to start by learning what an article directory is, and how to use them, this thread may help: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

Specifically, nobody should imagine that trying to use article directories "to attract potential customer traffic" is a good or sensible thing to do: it's actually a complete misuse of article directories: not only won't it help your business, but it can even actively damage it, for all the reasons explained in this post.

There's actually nothing new about it, Jeff ... the old ways are still the best, and thanks partly to all Google's Panda updates, are now working better than ever before, as so many of the professional article marketers here have been commenting over the last year. Unfortunately, several of the people who have replied above have done exactly that.

But then again, you also have Mike Tucker's reply above (#4), which will be very helpful to you.

Hope you can get your articles on the Home Page of those websites, since it is the only place that number really counts. Also, not all article directories.

      • You can start by submitting your articles to web directories. Contact other bloggers and ask them to write guest posts for their websites. Publishing your articles on Hub Pages, Ezine Articles, Yahoo Contributor Network and other high PR sites will help you get quality backlinks to your website or blog.

Submitting to article directories won't get a ton of traffic-

If your article gets 100 readers and you have a 20% CTR, you get 20 visitors to your site.

But realistically, you'll get more like 10-30 visitors, so like 6 people to your site.

If you submit to doc sharing sites like Scribd and DocStoc it will be better, but the traditional "bum marketing" method by Travis Sago doesn't work like it used to.

Justin is right, what most people think is article marketing to me is just article directory spamming. YES! ok...ok.... it will bring in some traffic for you. But after all the panda slaps, and google birdie flips at you this is not the best way to handle article marketing now a days. So it is time to step up to the plate.

The definition of article marketing for me is getting your article syndicated or guest posted on a high traffic blog or blog with HIGH PR value. That will get lookers and lookers can sometimes become buyers. Especially if they are targeted. So that is what you should be asking yourself.......ok self.... i have this article, but if I put it out there on a article directory it is not being read by the right people..... CORRECT!

So what you want to do, and what gets teh best results for us, is to make friends with those in higher places in your niches, trade journals, websites, forums, online communities, offline communities, magazines, newsletters, trade fairs, conventions, snail mail, facebook groups, ezine editors, press release houses, etc etc.

You need to get your article read by these people, so they can share it directly to those highly targeted people who are your most likely customer. This has been working for us since 2010 and blows BUM MARKETING tactics out of the water by 1000000000%

Yes it takes a bit of work, but if you release high quality articles, and form relationships in the right area and niches that can be priceless for you. What I just describe is what I would call ARTICLE MARKETING....getting a ****ty spun article and spamming that to 50 top article sites is just article directory spamming.

      Remember these three things....

      1) High Quality content - Your article must be 800 - 1000 words and top notch.

      2) Look for places that have lots of traffic, well know, and you can form relationships with the owners.

      3) Think targeted traffic, Targeted traffic each and every day. 10 people reading your article in well syndicated media is far better than 1000 people reading your article on goarticles or article base, because they are not targeted avenues really.

All in all, what you are doing with article directories is hoping and praying you will get targeted readers who read, subscribe to your site and may eventually buy something, if you do everything right.

With article syndication and guest posting on high ranking blogs you are doing the hard work for these owners looking for good content. You are going to them, and offering the articles as long as they reference you and send people to your site. So for this prevalige you must make sure you are giving good value and high quality content.

Phew, a mouthful, but hopefully I cleared that up. Once you learn how to do article marketing (syndication) properly it will change your business like it did for us.

*Sigh* Looks like this is going to be that thread to watch for misinformation today guys. You're talking Article Directory Marketing, and it doesn't work. This isn't an ideological stance either. It just. Doesn't. Work:

      1. The backlinks are utterly worthless.

I read and understood all posts in this thread completely. Reading comprehension hasn't been an issue since before the third grade . I don't see how anything anyone else has said (or any easily found facts) back up the method you have suggested though. It doesn't work, period. Giving people the answer they want to hear
is not always the right thing to do.

Often times they don't realize that they are

Yes ... (to be honest, all the professional article marketers here who are making a living know exactly why) ... it's because all those tools are designed to attempt to use article directories for a purpose other than the ones they can possibly fulfil.

You're trying to do "article directory marketing" rather than "article marketing". Article directory marketing doesn't work any more. It hasn't done for quite a long time, now ... and that won't be changing. Article directories do have uses, but not the ones you're trying to get out of them.

In a nutshell, there's nothing to gain from trying to use mass-submission to article directories for the directories' own backlinks and/or traffic. Posts #2 and #6 of this thread will explain it all to you pretty clearly, whenever you have the time to follow up the links/references inside them.

Alexa, do you have all the threads on a notepad or
something? You're doing a bang up job with interlinking
all the threads you've been involved in, basically, any
thread relating to article directory marketing.

    Just curious =)

Article Marketing is great way to build links and increase traffic. There is some debate as to whether it still works because it is an old practice by I definitely think it works because I have seen an improvement. I did some research on article marketing and its more quantity than quality. The more you submit the more traffic you get.

Well this is true at least, although the links are more of a happy side effect than a main benefit.

The only people who assert that article marketing doesn't work are the ones who don't know what it is. They tend to be thinking of article directory marketing. To see what article marketing is really about, read this.

Ah, so you were speaking of article directory marketing. Well, this point is wrong in about a million and one ways. The links that you get from submitting your articles are worthless. You'd get more for your time by spending the day on Netflix. When done correctly, Article Marketing is about quality.

You can search them on Google by yourself. High quality article directories like EzineArticles are the best places for you to submit the articles. Web 2.0 properties like Squidoo and Hubpages are also good options for you to submit articles.

Concentrate on article syndication instead of article marketing. Yes use the directories, but also contact blogs for guest blogging and ezine owners. This will open up traffic avenues you have probably never thought of.

I also use submityourarticle.com and love it.

If you want to submit to article directories, just make sure they are the most popular directories out there.

Many directories are not worth submitting to.
