The Future of Blogging...?

I just read a post on viperchill.com which basically tells not to produce too much content.

It is controversial but also makes sense.

Owning more of the web by creating more pages gets more traffic but where does it lead to?

But posting less and each post being like an ebook is also not 100% 'the right way'.

The Future of Blogging: I Had to Tell You This

Any ideas/feedback?

What do you think is the right way to blog? Churning our more content like crazy, or following 'less is more' concept?

What is your content strategy?

I don't think one is better than the other, just different. I think it also depends on your style of blogging and the topic and style of your site. Some people like writing a little every day, and some people like taking a week to write a really great post that takes readers through a story or process or something like that.

Tim Ferriss only blogs once a week or even less, but his posts are always in depth and extremely interesting, while Leo Babauta of ZenHabits blogs pretty much every day with less content, but both are valuable, interesting, extremely popular blogs.

    Yeah, it really depends.

I certainly don't believe in ridiculously long and infrequent blog posts since it, in most cases, kind of defeats the purpose of developing a relationship with ones readers and keeping the readers engaged.

On the other hand, churning out content on a daily basis is a good idea, if you are not producing garbage. I do believe people with more GOOD QUALITY content do benefit. If you're producing garbage on a daily basis, it is probably worse than producing an eBook style blog post every month.

    Just my two cents!

the blog has to short and crisp, because no one wants to spend entire day in reading a blog. convey what you would like to convey in a neat way. do not use complicated word just use simple English.

Wow... that blog post was almost 12,000 words long!
    That's a book, where I come from.

I think I have a nasty habit of writing too much.

A lot of my posts reach 800 words or more. It seems to work well in the search engines, but I'm not sure anyone ever gets to the end of a post, but 12000 words?

It was a good read though.

Well, I do not really have a plan of attack yet for my own blog. I doubt that I will update it very often. So far I have published only two posts after its first month.
As Glen himself said, he probably would have had an even bigger following by now if he would have published content a bit more often.

Like Patrick Batty, my posts and articles also have a tendency to be rather long. I will stick to it though, it's what I prefer. Will it work for me? That I do not know, but at the same time, I have no real intention on turning my blog into a so-called authority site.

I do not think that there are any rules that you absolutely MUST follow. Do what works for you.

Occasionally I create Awesome content, but more recently I've been doing less content and more "InfoTainment" keeping readers engaged, helping them out and more.

I realized that most of us that are blogging aren't blogging because its fun but to make money with our blogs, generate leads, and create a following.

I remember a few years ago I gave nothing but AMAZING content out on my blog, it attracted freebie seekers and I pitched once and I literally got Hate comments saying "how dare you try to sell us something"

Blog for you who are trying to attract, Both ways are fine, just realize why you are actually blogging in the first place
