STEP BY STEP LITTLE KNOWN BLACKHAT TRAFFIC METHOD: Get 167+ Uniques Per Day To Your Site For FREE!

Hey guys and gals I know that one of the biggest problems facing new internet marketers is that they simply have no idea how to get website traffic. Its really easy to setup information product websites, blogs, and things, but many many courses do not teach you how to get website traffic.

So here is a cool traffic tip that you can use to start driving traffic to your websites. Basically you are going to be leveraging the immense traffic that Wikipedia receives and bringing it to your own websites. Wikipedia links are no follow so doing this won't effect your search engine rankings, but you will get a boatload of traffic like this.

Here's how it works:

Lets assume that my product is a guide teaching people how to save money buying used cars.

Step 1) Search Wikipedia for your topic. Find articles on Wikipedia that are related to your niche.

You want to do a little thinking here. What is your target market searching for in the search engines? Since my product is a guide about how to save money buying used cars, I can safely say that my target market is probably looking up specifications on older vehicles.

So for this first step I found a Wikipedia article about a popular model of used car, the Nissan 240SX.

Step 2) Write an article about the subject of the Wikipedia article and post that to your website.

So for this example I could write a short article about the Nissan 240SX. Best of all you can use the actual content on Wikipedia as a guide to write your own article. DON'T COPY AND PASTE THOUGH, IT WILL RUIN THIS METHOD!

Step 3) Edit the Wikipedia article's external links by scrolling down to the bottom and clicking on edit:

Step 4) Edit the external links by using the syntax below:

Make sure you link to the article thats on your site, so you will not be flagged. DO NOT DELETE EVERYONE ELSE'S LINKS! AND ADD YOURS AT THE BOTTOM!

Step 5) Make sure on your article page on your website you either have a big blantant opt-in box or advertisement for your main product.

Step 6) Wash, rinse, and repeat for as many other keywords that are related to your niche as possible.
APPENDIX: WHAT IF THERE ARE NO EXTERNAL LINKS ON THE ARTICLE?

1st if there are no external links on the article pat yourself on the back because you've just found a great berry patch that you can start picking a ton of traffic from.

Now what you need to do is scroll to the very top of the page and click on "edit this page"

Then you need to scroll down towards the bottom of the page after all the content and insert the external links category yourself by using the following syntax:

== External links ==

Now you can proceed to add in your link.

Make sure you are scrolled down past all of the content, otherwise you'll put the links in the middle of the article and this will get your link taken down.
EDIT - WILL THIS WORK IN HIGH COMPETITION NICHES?

Yes it will. There has been some discussion below about this not working in high competition niches. This is total malarkey. First it will work, if you're on a really popular article its possible that your links will be removed by other jealous business owners or Wikipedia moderators. However nothing bad will happen if your link is removed.

Like in everything else in internet marketing go after the "low hanging fruit." You want to find articles that are highly relevant to what it is you're selling, yet are under the radar of mainstream business owners.

Example#1: You have a flyfishing product. This is a high competition niche. So DO post your link on the main article about fly fishing for starters, if its taken down, SO WHAT! Keep it rolling.

You want to get outside of the box and put on your thinking cap. Why not write articles on the different species of fish that flyfishermen usually target. Post that on your site, then link to that article from Wikipedia.

Think about it for a second. If a flyfisherman is looking to catch a certain type of fish he's going to want more information on that particular species of fish. Where will he go to find it? Google! What will be #1 or in the top 10 on Google? Wikipedia! What will be on the Wikipedia article? Your link!

WHY THIS WORKS:

This works because Google is in LOVE with Wikipedia, and that site receives so much traffic its ridiculous. People do read these articles and they do click on the external links. You should be bringing them to your site and converting them on your offers!!

ADVANCED METHODS:

Spend some time searching Wikipedia for keywords related to your niche. You're looking for keywords which have no articles.

If you see that screen above for ANY of the keywords in your niche then congratulate yourself because you've just found a literal BERRY PATCH full of traffic ripe for the picking!! You can WRITE THE ARTICLES YOURSELF and put them on Wikipedia, and link to your site as an external link! Wikipedia will ALWAYS out rank Ezine Articles, Youtube, and all of the other big name sites we marketers like to use, and you're talking about some serious traffic!

That's it. You can do one of these in 15 minutes with practice. If you devoted just two hours per day to doing this, after a month you'd be receiving thousands of unique visitors per day to your websites!

MY LINK KEEPS GETTING PULLED DOWN - WHAT DO I DO?

Wikipedia does have some strict anti-spam policies. In order to get around them one Warrior suggested offering something of use to the Wiki visitor on the page you are linking to. If you can't get your links to stick on Wikipedia, then you can consult this other list of websites using Wiki technology!

List of wikis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

These websites policies aren't as strict as Wikipedia's and you can definately catch some nice traffic from them.

THE METHOD WORKS! TAKE ACTION AND GET IT DONE!

Why would I need to be careful Peter? Also I'm not trying to sell anything here so I don't need prove anything to anyone, this method works, and I'm just providing a tip for all of you who are struggling to get traffic. If you want proof, PROVE IT TO YOURSELF and spend 15 minutes doing this!

But if you MUST see that you are literally leaving a ton of traffic on the table if you aren't doing this I want to show you something

As you can see Wikipedia has referred 526 people from the "Akuma" article that is on there website. They've also referred and additional 20 people from the "Gouki" article and 17 people from the "Shun Goku Satsu" article. Thats 526+20+17= 563 UNIQUE VISITORS from just three links on Wikipedia.

There are literally hundreds more articles I could put links on, best of all EVERY NICHE IS LIKE THIS, ITS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!

Peter, are you getting 563 unique visitors to your site per month right now from three little links TOTALLY FOR FREE? If you are then please share your traffic tips with us.

I don't think Wikipedia "banned" those links. You know, wikipedia is not Google... What's more likely to have happened is that one of the volunteering wikipedia authors/editors simply removed those links from the records.

That's how WP works in the end. There is, most of the time, no central authority - WP is community governed. Well, a little bit like the Warrior Forum

The key to this is to have an article related to directly what the wikipedia article is talking about on your site. This way other Wikipedia members won't remove your links, and if they do just take a couple of minutes to go back and repost them!

I've done this on occasion with an adsense site. My article always directly relates to the subject and is informative and well written. I'm lucky if the link lasts three or four days. The site has no other commercial aspect to it...it doesn't even offer a newsletter.

I then tried doing this with a site with no commercial aspect whatsoever. The article pages linked to WP gave solid info and recommended the reader check out the adsense site referenced above. This technique worked better in terms of the link staying on WP longer...usually about a week or so, but the bleed in terms of getter the reader from WP to the info site to my adsense site just wasn't worth the time.

Now this is the short story of my test, but the conclusion I ultimately came to is this technique might work for low competition niches but not so well higher competition niches because I think not only will volunteer editors remove your link but your competition does so as well. The more competition, the more jokers fooling with your link.

    Just my 2 cents.

Good idea, but i did a little digging into WP's help center and found this..

It is true that a link from Wikipedia to an external site may drive Web traffic to that site. But in line with Wikipedia policies, you should avoid linking to a site that you own, maintain, or represent -- even if WP guidelines seem to imply that it may otherwise be linked. When in doubt, you may go to the talk page and let another editor decide. This suggestion is in line with WP's guidelines.

I am not bashing your post, thanks for sharing, but i believe that it would be very hard to make external links stick for very long. I think that as soon as the wikipedia staff becomes aware of external links for self promotion, they will remove them. Just my opinion.

This doesn't work all the time in all of the pages, I've tried this and do have my links in various wikipedia pages, but the thing is that, if you overly do it, Wikipedia will easily track it down and they have good moderation going on in their pages.

I've even had problem putting links to my webpage in wiki pages I started. The guy who was moderating the page even flagged my link as spammer and warned me that he'll remove my links.

But after few arguments with the guy who was moderating those pages (I was able to convince him saying that I was the original starter of the page). So I was able to get a link back to my site on one condition - To put only one relevent link in the external links page.

But if you go about doing it in excess, you can get your IP banned from posting anything at all. You don't want that, do you? Hope this helps...

I've personally never had problems with having my links removed, even if they are going to pages with an opt-in box. I guess it depends on the niche, but this is a great source of traffic even if its short lived.

If you're in a high competition niche this may not last long because of other jealous business owners trying to do the same thing.

The key is to make the page that you're linking to extremely informational. Keep an eye out on your links, so if they get removed you can throw them up quickly.

DO NOT remove everyone else's link - THIS WILL GET YOU BANNED!

    POST
in the EXTERNAL LINKS section and not in references.

This only works for non-commercial websites. It has to link to something that has no obvious commercial interests. If you have an internet marketing blog and make a post about Tomb Raider to link from Wiki's Tomb Raider article, obviously that link may not last 24 hours because it's not a fit. If you have built a mostly non-commercial authority site about Tomb Raider games and movies, however, then your link will be likely to stick.

For those of you who are concerned about the commercial rule in Wikipedia's terms of service, I want to offer you this quick strategy to getting around the Wikipedia commercial traffic rule:

STEP 1) Register a .info domain for your niche - Right now GoDaddy has them for $0.99

Make sure that you have the word articles in the domain name.

STEP 2) Post your articles to this domain. You can use Wordpress and post your articles as blog posts. Wordpress take minutes to setup and you can get a plethora of Wordpress themes that will make your blog look cool from here - Wordpress Themes

STEP 3) Put ads for your related niche site on this wordpress blog, and also put opt-in boxes on the page for more free information. Never mention anything about anything costing money. Use the word free liberally. Also use a entry and exit pop up and really make your free information enticing. Your list will blow up.

HOW THIS GETS AROUND THE WIKIPEDIA TOS - Basically you're directing them to a wordpress blog with information on it. The only advertisements there are offering more free information. In order for something to be commercial there has to be money involved.

WHY THIS IS STILL EFFECTIVE, PERHAPS EVEN MORE EFFECTIVE - You can use the Wordpress blog to establish yourself as an authority on the subject. Use the same pen name on your sales letters as you do on the author of your blog posts. People will buy from people who they know, like, and/or trust. One of the best ways of establishing trust is by presenting yourself as an authority.

TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL - Put pictures of yourself or find some pictures of a person that you want to present as being the author. Put an about me page there as well and give a bio. In this bio emphasize your authority on the subject.

REMEMBER! People on Wikipedia are information seekers, they are not yet buyers. So if you want to convert them from their info seeking behavior into pulling out their credit card, all you have to do is give them more information, then create a problem for them, then create a product that solves that problem.

If someone wanted to they could take this method and explode it into a nice income stream for themselves!

This is definitely a "grey hat" technique... as evidenced by the arguments one way or the other. I have been doing some research on this technique, and here are some easy guidelines:

    1) Don't expect to get a permanent link... nothing is certain on a Wiki
    2) Do be careful to avoid obvious commercial promotion (IP banning ends the game)
    3) This certainly works better for smaller, quieter, less active niches
    4) If you are serious about making this work, then you should become a vibrant member of the WikiPedia community

Thanks for bringing attention to this idea, and for all of the great comments and ideas.

QUESTION: I was wondering about the usefulness of something like Qassia where you can link to your article (not on your site), especially if its useful and relevant... Anyone tried that?

    Hey Claude,

That's a good tip, but you'd do better (keeping your links in wiki) by adding to the content, then putting your URL as a reference at the end.

I kow this tactic's been used quite a bit over the years, but when doing it your way by editing other people's links in the resources, they are subject to deletion pretty quickly.

    Just a thought ...
