My Domain registrar 1&1 will not allow a domain to be transferred within 60 days of registration or transfer. they are very blunt about it, it is a rule they say.

Anyone come across this before?

All registrars do that. I wouldn't use 1&1. Just Google 1&1 scam for the reasons. When I want to transfer a domain to a customer, I get them to create an account where the domain is registered and just push it to them. You can do that at any time. You just can't move it out of the registrar for 60 days

  • This is a 1and1's terms and condition. You must their terms and condition before registering any domain.

No, it isn't, as explained above.

As Suzanne mentioned, the 60 day rule is universal among ALL registrars. The rule only applies to transfers to a different registrar. It doesn't apply to pushing a domain from one account to another within the same registrar.

I have actually found 1&1 to be the most difficult registrar that I have ever had anything to do with and as result am in the process of "weeding" them out of my business entirely.

Yeah, I found this out recently, but again just push it to where needed and transfer later if needed. Not hard to do at all. It's all the registrars as far as I know.

I never knew this, but then again I've never transferred a domain yet. I suppose it makes sense otherwise people would be doing excessive domain name transfers.

Yes, it's the same with all registrars.

Watch yourself with 1&1 and all of them for that matter.
