How do I setup google alerts for my site?

INTERNET MARKETING

With all of the Google changes I'm shifting quicker than I previously thought I would to a more syndication-based traffic model for my niche sites.

My question is, how can I make it so that whenever someone links back to my site I get a google alert, and can then follow up with them to see if they would like more content to publish? Is this possible? I know I can setup alerts for particular phrases, but can I make it so that whenever a URL comes up or is linked to I get an alert?

If you go into the google submenu there is a clickable link to create an alert. It is somewhat self explanitory.

I prefer to use either a unique author name or snippet to track the alerts for my content. You will NEVER be given 100% of the content as google comes acress it so might want to use copyscape as welll

  To the best of my knowledge, Google Alerts are text driven, they rely upon their discovery of a particular passage of text you set up in the Alert.
  
  I have never heard of it returning an Alert following someone linking back to you, although I suppose you could try entering your website's URL as an alert, because, obviously, that would have to be part of the link.
  
  You would probably solve the issue if you set up alerts to unique passages of text from every article you post on your site. That's exactly what I do to track who is republishing my work.
